Idk that depends am I listening to Bright Eyes or what

(I get emotional a lot but like actual tears or smth? I think two years ago with Harmlessness, probably forgetting one tho)

 

Usually the emotions come first and then i go listen to music to numb them a bit.

 

There are some parts of Sunny Day Real Estate's How It Feels To Be Something On that reminds me of Sci-Fi! Especially the placement of songs in the beginning, like the bass driven, almost ominous album opener and an early-ish acoustic-based song a bit after.

 

Though I maybe cried the first time I heard Cherry by Moose Blood. Shame those guys turned out to be creeps.

 

I just assumed you read Archie comics to numb your pain.

 

In The Water gives me HIFTBSO/Rising Tide era SDRE vibes too, but i don't know why exactly

 

Sometimes I feel that the only time I ever get emotional is while listening to music haha

It's fascinating that comic panels, of all things, can be included in these "triggers" that help reestablish our sense of identity. Maybe it has to do with the fact that a page, once printed, never changes. Give me Calvin and Hobbes for an hour and I'll be good for a day or two. Not to wax poetry, but almost like the crack of light under a door in a house where all the lights are out, and rooms are jaded. Your bed might not be in that well lit room anymore, but you have the key to it, and visiting reminds you that maybe all the house needs is a little work.

Reading is magical and it's a damn shame people would rather lose themselves in other less fulfilling mediums. Nobody cares about that Facebook status you took 20 minutes to write and deleted 3 times before settling for posting nothing of substance, go read a chapter instead.

 

I like reading, but tv is really high on my list too

Oh absolutely. And I think a lot of people who don't enjoy books/reading just haven't found what's right for them. I like books, but I practically learned to read between Spider-Man and Archie.

There's so much to read out there! You don't like Shakespeare? Try reading the biography of your favorite athlete! Don't like novels? Read a travelogue! Don't like self-help books? Read comics! I could go on forever. There's something for everyone and "I'm just not a reader" doesn't really apply to anyone.
