    Remember when people wanted to change the name of “French fries” to “Freedom fries” because they’re idiots?

    Because everything is better French fried. Or burnt to a crisp, like Yamcha.

    lol....oh, I think you and I know!! :crylaugh: Some fuckin' brackets, fam!(oh god, please no)

    Yeah, it's just odd. I wish he'd explain that lyric specifically, more so the song in general too...but at least that lyric.

    I just really dont get that song. Like there's obvious references and parallels drawn to video games(Jesse plays a ton of video games)....but I dont get the overall message, or premise, of the song.

    Someone's interpretation I read;

    "The overall composition of the song tied in with the lyrics has made me start to view this as sort of a digital versus analog commentary. Or better put, virtual versus visceral. The first portion of the song is heavy in guitar effects, even on the vocals. The lyrical themes center around video games, infinite lives, and the cultivation of perfect bodies (a perfect shell, lacking inner development). There is plenty of academic research showing that while the digital world has people talking more than ever, we are all feeling increasingly isolated. We "built Babel together" because everyone is speaking, but no one is understanding each other. "Hell is digital" because it is hollow, empty. If you have infinite lives, it doesn't matter what you do. No experience carries any meaning. No failure is crushing. No success is sweet. You can do it all again tomorrow anyway.

    This is contrasted by the rough, lo-fi acoustic outro that is accompanied by visceral/body-focused lyrics (skin of my teeth, go without water or sleep). He's back in the real world but is feeling so disillusioned that he's not sure he's even here. Yet, he recognizes that this is real. What happens here is final. You've only got one chance. Death will come.
    "No reset.""

    Interesting way to look at it, but certain lyrics dont work for the theory imo.

    That same user later went on to say that the gym line ties in with the whole perfect body theme he cited before, if that’s of any help.

    You could say that, although in a much more positive way than originally intended by Justin Pierre when he penned the hit song "the Future Freaks Me Out" off the incredible debut album I Am the Movie by influential alternative rock band Motion City Soundtrack.

    That's pretty much how mine would line-up too. Except In The Water would face Not the Sun, and even so, In The Water still wins that match-up easily.

    I still have yet to check out the new Movielife :/ I also wasn't impressed with the new Killers album. The first 3 songs and "Run for Cover" are great, everything else kinda bored me.

    New Circa is great. It made me go back revisit their catalog though, and I will forever rank Blue Sky Noise as one of the prettiest sounding albums I've ever heard. The guitar tones on it are pretty much perfect.

    @cwhit I usually trust your music choices. What should I be listening to from that list you made?

    I love Prawn, added that to mine. No interest in Young Thug. Can you RIYL for the rest of those?

    moses sumney is like, indie R&B. wolves in the throne room is black metal, phoebe bridgers has been playing with conor oberst, chelsea wolfe is like if julien baker went doom metal, cut copy is synth pop, the blow is weird experimental synthy indie with hip hop influences

    New Prawn is only ok unfortunately imo. I'll give it another shot but it came off as pretty forgettable. Enjoyed some songs but it blended together and nothing really stood out to me
