I've never seen DBZ. I also don't like anime though, so I doubt I'd enjoy it

I don't like anime either it's the only one I like but I also probably only like it for nostalgia. Even though I watch the new episodes of Dragonball Super weekly

One time I told this dude at school the only anime I liked was The Last Airbender and he spent like 10 minutes screaming at me about how it isn't an anime

What have you watched? There's a lot of bad in anime, but there is a lot of good, too. Much like anything else

I've seen a couple DBZ among other things I wouldn't know the name of if I tried to guess

That's funny because I was literally about to post "I don't know if it's actually anime or not, but if I was going to watch DBZ, I'd rather just watch the Last Airbender again".

No disrespect to anime. It's just never been something I've looked much into, and I don't really plan to because my list of albums, movies, tv shows, video games, books etc. I want to go through is already overwhelming as is. Wish there was more time to appreciate everything out there, but it really seems like we only have a few good years left on this planet, so I gotta pick and choose.

I feel like some of the most beloved and influential films in recent memory have been anime...

Kevin Devine story on Instagram shows he's in San Francisco so guess he's playing with them again tonight at least, if not the full tour.

The first half of Deathnote is excellent, then it kind of tappers off. I wholeheartedly recommend both Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Also, Cowboy Bebop is popular for a reason and that's because it's damn good. Unlike the other's that I mentioned, Bebop is entirely about the characters and while there are some overarching plot elements, each episode is it's self contained thing. These are some good introductory anime.

Deathnote: kid gets a notebook that allows him to write down anyone's name and they will die, he can also decide how they die

Fullmetal Alchemist: After the loss of their mother, two brothers try to use what is known as "transmutation" to bring her back to life and it all goes south

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood: same general plot structure as the former but think of it as a reboot. It's a seperate thing that should be watched after the original series.

    Cowboy Bebop: lovable bounty hunters

Here, watch this two minute clip. It is the first scene from the first episode of Cowboy Bebop. I think if you watch this you'll find it difficult not to watch more.

It's going to be absolutely impossible for me to keep up with this thread (and the general BN thread) during the school week, isn't it?

Now that we've angered the DBZ gods with false promise, expect a mysterious notice from the band on how they will no longer be performing the announced tours.

    Spirited Away
The Place Promised in Our Early Days
    Princess Mononoke
    Akira

These are ones that are pretty much universally backed.

I also personally like the Evangelion movie series that started in the late 2000s.

    Shut the FFFFFFRESHFISH UP

I'm going to have this stuck in my head for the rest of the day/forever thank you very much. GOAT anime opening sequence

Also I agree re: Deathnote, it needed to end after you know what happened to you know who, but it's still really good overall.
