Lmao this is what gets me about dude, he only has 2 settings: antagonistic and loving

 

IAAN and Mene kind of sound like a band that were really awesome at one point in time but might have lost their edge. Still good because the band is good, but not much more than resting on laurels. so glad this album does not bear much semblance to those songs at all.

I was expecting this to be kinda shitty honestly. Like, maybe land just above YFW in terms of quality. But this my AOTY right now. It really is just incredible.

Yeah, to be honest, those songs sound like a band who is past their prime and is trying to go back to what worked when they were like 20. Beyond happy that sound is nowhere present

 

Brand New: Last (Official) Thread, Dancing Dead, One More Time with Feeling

 

Anyone else enjoying nightmare more now that they know the album sounds nothing like it? It's like a little look into what brand new would have sounded like as a "radio rock" band

 

I have to say Same Logic and 451 are incredible. Those two songs hit hard and would hit hard on Daisy or TDAG but hit even harder here considering what's around them. It makes them so much more impactful. I mean Same Logic is track 5 and is the first time on the album that Jesse really lets loose vocally and 451 well I love a banger as the second last track seems even more fitting after hearing Batter Up. As always with BN imo the sequencing is absolutely flawless on this record. You can tell they poured over everything to make sure it flows perfectly and it does. I'm blown away.

 

I actually am nothing like that in real life.

 

I don't want to say mine too yet, I've still listened to black mile way more. Once they are close to the same amount of listens than I would be willing to make a decision. I think this will edge it out by a very small margin, which I this is brand news best album or second best (more likely) there's nothing wrong with Manchester being slightly below.

This is just personal preference, but I hope it gets a gatefold too. More artwork is always nice.

 

Not sure who is more annoying Blakebeats or the "10 year veterans" who think they have earned a right to do something by posting on a forum.

OK. But what you're not getting is that even if I haven't listened to YFW, calling me a poser is BULLSHIT. I've cried to TDAG countless times, they were my first concert and I've seen them a few times since, ive purchased their merch, I've purchased all of their albums (sans YFW), I've covered them at open mic...like what the fuck does it take? You're sorry because you misunderstood what I wrote, but you should just be sorry for what you wrote in the first place. Not like I give a flying fuck what you think, but because you'll be a better person for it.

A Black Mile is this albums only competition for me right now too. Haha Only album I expect to have any chance of beating them out for me this year is Circa Survive (they're my favorite band). I am unsure to a degree. A Black Mile I do think is more unique in a way. But I think this is just like, Brand New doing what they've always done best consistently for 12 songs.
