Yeah that might be a better way of looking at than my prevous “this can’t be news to them” post.

I do think, though, they definitely have seen some strange behavior from him, in terms of him making a power play and abusing his “power” so to speak. Just potentially not this specific situation.

 

Yeah, not really making it the focal point of my concern when there are first hand accounts of Jesse out there. The rumblings are definitely troubling but I'm sure something will come out there in a bigger way in due course.

Also, we sent an email to to Jeanae like 5? years ago now and she 1) absolutely didn't want to be used in this way at all, 2) told me she was of age when she and Pete dated. There's weird timeline stuff online but I was never able to find anything out there definitively and after that email exchange haven't talked to her since.

 

What I don’t like is that people are using FOB to try to discredit Brian. I don’t mind FOB going down too

 

If this is something that Jesse has already went through with his wife & bandmates then fine, but he needs to apologize to his victims as best he can. There are idientities attached to these claims, so make it right the best you can.

I️ have no doubt based on his vague interlude speeches and his wife’s comments that this might not be new to those close to him and he turned it around in recent years, but do your part with the victims then.

 

Agreed. I'm very interested to see if celebrities who had old rumors or stories will come out again now and have the same consequences or if there will be the same weird almost grandfathered in before Weinstein issue that has been happening with like Chris Brown/Polanski/Woody Allen/Jimmy Page/etc. It's almost as if what has been known in the open before this year is getting a pass more than open secrets or new info, even when it's just as awful or even worse.

 

Yeah I don't mind people being outed, just don't like what that thread turned into as the victims took a backseat to people getting jokes off

 

My inbox has a whole bunch of second hand stories that got sent to me over the past few days now. Like "have you heard about XYZ" and stuff like that. I never know what to do with that kinda stuff, because none of it is publishable, but it's so many bands and the weird Warped Tour stories we had heard for years. The whispers of who to stay away from, and lots of underage shit.

 

The exchange between Randy Nichol's and Max's ex-girlfriend on that Facebook post seemed heated.

 

I know I have had a huge blind spot with this specific story because I missed it completely when it first happened and actual info was so hard to track down once I did read about it/talk about it not that long ago, but if any more women come forward about anyone in FOB I will feel so totally ashamed. I've given them even more money than BN over the years. I'm glad this site is so much more supportive than any others though. Definitely feel like I will need you all in the coming weeks/months.

 

Jason has been handling this pretty well. I've got a lot of respect for that.

 

The woman who has told her stories is telling them for a reason. She obviously doesn't feel like any amends have been made, and the abuse still haunts her. If she was at peace, she likely wouldn't be publicly saying these things.

That's the problem. Even if Jesse is a changed person and regrets what he's done, there's no closure for the victims. If there's any way for them to stay in the public sphere, there needs to be some attempt to do that, but it's likely too late at this point.

 

So are we confirming that the rumors of stuff with Derricks fiance and why he left the band true? I know for the longest time any comments on that specific issue were deleted. I guess it's not really relevant but they seem to be fine to post now

After they embarked on their affair when he was sixty-one and she was twenty-one, he warned Gilot of his feelings once more: “For me there are only two kinds of women: goddesses and doormats.” Marina saw her grandfather’s treatment of women as an even darker phenomenon, a vital part of his creative process: “He submitted them to his animal sexuality, tamed them, bewitched them, ingested them, and crushed them onto his canvas. I read this this morning. Not the lightest coffee read, but highly recommended.

 

I've never deleted anything related to that.

 

I might just not remember I guess maybe it was just made clear not to post rumors about that situation in threads, again it doesn't matter since it isn't really relevant to what's come out now unless people are just wanting to have more examples of questionable behavior

 

and follow up: unless it's what the victims want as a way to show his accountability, speaking out about assault, making donations to charities, etc, really doesn't mean anything. people seem to forget it's not about looking like a better person, it's about doing what you can to fix the horrible damage you caused to another person. this is about the victims, and only about the victims.

 

I've heard from a person close to the situation (family of those involved) that that situation is true. I've also heard that it's a bit more complex than "Jesse slept with his fiancee," but regardless - it's not a good look for him at all.

I've also heard terrible things about Alex from All Time Low (but most definitely heard second-hand), and directly observed The Dangerous Summer being fucking creepy and going after my 14 year old sister. In regards to TDS that it wasn't AJ, but the rest of those guys are fucked up.

 

No one on this site should feel any shame because of the actions of bands we have supported! Unless you knowingly support someone regardless of accusations, it is not your fault.

Honestly I think that's part of what makes it even more disgusting with bands like Brand New and (if anything actually comes out about) Fall Out Boy, and PWR BTTM. They're bands who people form intense connections to, often times based on feelings of isolation/not belonging/otherwise being different. When those bands abuse their power it just makes me even more angry because they are preying on people who are already vulnerable.

That being said on FOB the only story I'm familiar with is Janae, so I don't want to put them in this category based on Jason's post.

 

New York Magazine is working on a story about this. Just saw a reporter contact people about sharing their stories

 

I said I wasn't going to publicly comment on anything like that because it was far more gossipy than anything I wanted to talk about and Jesse has a family and kids and this website is highly Googlable and I wouldn't want it to come up for his kid one day and my site be the one talking about that kind of gossip.

I had no idea this was coming, so that whole thought is kinda out the window.
