Well looks like my night just got a lot more exciting

 

I can't tell if this is a joke or if you really haven't figured this out

 

Lmao it's a joke. I was in here when he changed it and then when someone (@littlejohn) took his old account.

 

I was actually (finally) just changing out of my clothes that I wear to bike to work. We don't have any private changing areas here, so I have to use a stall in the bathroom, and they're pretty small, so I have to sit down to be able to physically make it work.

But I've also been trying to cram 5 days of work into 4 days this week since I will be out tomorrow. My wife is going out of town for the weekend for her sister's baby shower, so it's just me and the kids for 3 days. I really hope they like the new Converge album!

 

Oh, and also I am taking the kids' pacifiers away after they wake up tomorrow. They already only get them in their cribs/for sleep, but it's time for them to go completely.

When my son turned 2, I just threw them all away - cold turkey - and told him the dog ate them. He was getting pretty dependent on them.

Luckily, my near 2-month-old doesn't seem to have much interest in them.

 

Three years from now, your son will quote this post and say "what the phuxk!!"

 

Yeah, that's what I'm planning on doing. Although I'm not going to tell them anyway. The pacifiers stay in their cribs, so they will be there when they wake up, but will be gone when they go down for their nap in the afternoon. Assuming they still nap.

Our pediatrician said she's fine with them using pacifiers just to sleep until age 2, but given that we have a third kid on the way right around that time, I want to get it done before then. And before they can really talk and try to bargain.

Plus, with my wife being gone, I'm going to be tired from dealing with the kids all day every day for 3 straight days anyway. I don't think adding this on will add too much more trouble.

 

Work emails were down all afternoon so trying to catch up now and it sucks

 

If i got into it all itd be a TL;DR. Just been going through some things id never think id be put through, especially by people who call themselves "friends & family."
Very frustrating having the people expecting your progress being the biggest impediment.

Fuck fake friends and fair-weather family members. If you need someone to talk to I'm here, as I'm sure many folks in this thread are!

 

It's people trying to control and shape situations and people they have no hand in or right to (and in this instance it wasn't even line crossing, it was blowing down the boundaries and shitting on them then feeling entitled to doing so). Grew up like that, keep seeming to find new people to fill the role whenever I kick out other toxic people. This one though? This was the last straw.
This is the first time in life I've been comfortable enough in myself to not be hurt by words or actions by the people, just disgusted. Not shocked, just ashamed. That's all I need.

My daughter turns 3 in 3 months and she’s still dependent on them for nighttime. We plan to break her of that habit by the time she’s 3.

My son is 10 months old and we’ve never given him one ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

 

@Larry David FINALLY watched this week’s episode of Curb!

 

Yeah, this just seems like a prime time to do it for us. I know it would be fine if they continued to have them for a while, but they don't really need them, but everything I've read on the subject says that after about 3 days they forget they ever existed, so the timing here just works.

I'm not sure if we'll give the new baby any pacifiers when the time comes, we'll have to play it by ear.

 

@Larry David And I get to watch your Bills tonight! Is Benjamin expected to play?

 

I would’ve liked to break her off it sooner but my son came along and we kind of put it off!

Im excited to catch the Bills play tonight too, Giants fan myself but the Bills were my fav uncles team. Miss him, so whenever I can see the Bills play - even if they lose.... which growing up was a rag on him anyway... kinda feel close to him again haha. So I'm happy (and mindfucked) they're doing so well... even when it's clear that wasn't their intention this season lol.
