This is a v good analysis. I definitely didn't get that before, but I can see it now. I also like how "pass the plate" can be an allusion to the church and passing an offering plate, but doing nothing of worth with one's time.

Meh I don't mind it. I mean there is a sports team named the Canucks. The team and their fans are an insult but not the term itself imo

 

My fiancee is terrified of having to deal with World Series LA traffic. Regular LA traffic is bad enough lmao. Should be pretty good though, I'm really hoping Houston wins. But if it goes to 7 games I'm assuming LA has it.

 

I feel like it's similar to Yanks for Americans, but less commonly used by Americans (other than the baseball team obviously).

 

Yeah I love that it's the battle of the 2 best teams. I mean it may have been Cleveland but they peaked too soon and didnt start out as strong. Houston has been strong from the start of the year and so has LA. Too close to call I don't know but i see the series going 6 or 7 games.

Definitely referring to collection plate but I think it's more the rich person giving their donation then doing no work then putting their heads back into "their hole in the woods" which is their way of ignoring that theres any problems.
