I'm super close to a 1 post:2 like ratio. @The Mysterious was a very big part of that.

My whole life is meaningless without that 1:2 :verysad:

This is always an interesting question. Do we stop listening to the Beatles because John Lennon was a woman beater? Do we stop listening to FOB because Pete Wentz dated a teenager when he was in his 20s? Why has this stuff not hurt Woody Allen?

I think it comes down to whether or not we can seperate the art from the artist.

I think that at times, it is impossible to do so. Sometimes maybe things that come to light about an artist/actor/musician that are abhorrent force you to see their work in a different light, because the correlation of their shitty actions and their work is too close. Appropriately so most of the time.

I think about this too. especially when I'm at a kids place and michael jackson songs are playing. I just dont think it's appropriate.

I don't think I could watch the cosby show knowing what we know now, or watch penn state football without thinking about joe paterno and stuff.

For instance, knowing that Front Porch Step was an abuser of young girls among many other things, his work will never be spun or listened to by me knowing full well he writes songs about girls with the mindset that they're bad and he's a good person. Like, go to fucking hell dude.

Lennon for that matter, showed a lot of good morale in his music, and his influence was never closely correlated to what was apparently happening in his relationships behind closed doors. It becomes a grey area/dependent on the listeners views at that point.

it's up for everyone to decide to listen or not, but the problematic part is when people try to "get back on topic" when people are talking about the problematic parts of artists. that is bad. if you do that you are part of the problem of why these artists continue to prosper

i personally also think it's important to have consistency. if you go against an artist you don't like for a specific thing, if another artist does the same that you do like you should have the same reaction. favoring artists you like for reasons you shun other artists for is not a good look

I didn't touch on consistency but that is a huge, valid point. Consistency throughout all. Thus why finding out today about LCK really hit home. I had to be honest with myself and not read the article presented as bullshit or not serious because I really do love his work.

yes exactly, just like the double standard with weinstein and turmp (typo intended). trump supporters are over there clutching their pearls about harvey's wrongdoings but when it was someone on their side they blame the victims, and don't believe anything that doesn't fit their narrative.

biggest personal example of this comes with the dangerous summer. finding out that they did a very very similar thing to moose blood means that my attachment to TDS shouldn't matter if i am actively calling out moose blood for the same thing. hypocrisy in these situations is very harmful, your friends shouldn't get an extra benefit of the doubt just because they're friends.

So I got my Science Fiction CD in the mail today and I got a sticker that says #009. It also says 009 on the CD itself. Does that actually mean I got the ninth print or is it symbolizing something else? Thx.

i would love to have a discussion with you to figure out what this is about. i'm not perfect and if i did make a mistake like that i am very open to figuring out how to better myself.

i think i know what this is about and i think my posts were taken the wrong way, but at the same time it was probably unnecessary to make a statement like i did about that. please pm me, i'd love to work this out and figure out my mistakes in order to not do that going forward

yeah, that's what i thought. i am not defending him and i will never support him, but at this point i don't feel comfortable making public statements against him again. though again, i would never see him or listen to his music

and again, looking back i probably should not have said as much info as i did. i should have just stopped without making a statement about what she told me. i apologize for that, that was wrong.
