It would be cool to see Brand New submit for the Grammys just for the hell of it (it would probably have to be for 2019 though)

 

Album was released during the 2018 Grammy eligibility window

 

I just wasn't sure if the digital-only release would count, since the physical release was last Friday, and the window ended on September 30th.

I'm pretty sure if they were to submit they'd do the digital release which would count (why go to the Grammys in 2019 if you break up in 2018?) but I don't think they're going to submit at all

Even if they did the Grammys would probably choose fuckin Foo Fighters or something like that

 

Yea I really can't see Brand New even bothering to submit their album to the Grammys. I don't think that's really a goal they have.

 

Yeah I don't see it happening either. Them getting the #1 album (for a week) was surprising and cool enough. I've said it before that I would love to see them get as many accolades as possible and go out on the highest of notes, but I'm also just happy we got an amazing last album out of them before they call it quits.

 

Maybe they will get nominated in the best new artist category.

Also can someone explain to me the appeal of Cage The Elephant, I can't hear a single new thing they bring to the table

I've only heard their singles on radio and think they are at least a little bit enjoyable.

I can't put my finger on it who they remind me of though.

 

Portugal. the Man getting a Best New Artist nom is something that didn't cross my mind, but now seems like a certainty. That will be extremely annoying. Even more so than when fun. got it, considering they only were on their second album. PTM has been around for years, and even has several alt rock radio hits.

 

It's not necessarily that they bring anything new, as much as they have really nailed the sound and vibe they are going for. They're a lot of fun to see live, Matt Shultz has a lot of star power, and their songs are really catchy. They honestly cover a pretty wide range of styles too.

 

Nice dude. That's a Canadian band I need to properly check out.

 

Practically nothing but Cage the Elephant, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Blink 182, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, and whatever else is considered "popular indie/alternative rock." Oh and a lot of Beastie Boys too. I'm so grateful for the aux port in my car. When I had an old Toyota pickup with a terrible stereo system I hooked up an outlet adapter so I could plug in my desktop speakers and use my iPod because I hated listening to local radio so much.

 

Yeah his stage presence is really something else. Like a young Iggy Pop.

 

Honestly fuck 91x. I just don't listen to the radio at all in the first place because I like to be in control of what I listen to but 91x sucks
