I wish there were specific words to convey the awful feeling of dread and sorrow I feel for those victim's families. I can't imagine or empathize what it must be like right now.

I think that part of the beauty of the USA is our ability to persevere through so much turmoil that comes from being a free country. I wish it didn't take horrible acts of terrorism to unify all of those who are passive to bigger issues in such a way that I see now on Facebook.

We do so by using these social platforms to convey our messages, and try to educate each other on current issues, as well as longer existing issues we've all disagreed on for however long, over many different subjects. And with that said, I am asking those who are gun owners and advocates for gun control to help me understand this: What exactly is to be done and how exactly do you appropriately discuss this without coming off as insensitive?

I am not a gun owner. I never have been. To be honest, they intimidate me. I try to think about what a heinous act like this makes others who also are inexperienced with guns feel. I believe that gun control is an absolute necessity, and has helped prevent countless acts of terrorism like the one last night.

I am also somebody that sees the point that gun control does not keep guns out of the hands of criminals who seek them out. But where is the limit? If you believe we have a right to own tools that are designed for one thing, killing, who do you believe deserves to hold that power on their waistband? Everyone? That just doesn't make sense to me. Do you not see a necessity for prominent screening and mental health care checks for those who own 10 rifles like the terrorist whom everyone thought was just an elder? Can you really just chalk it up to "that was one guy, I would never do that" and be done with it? It's an extremely touchy subject that I believe I've bounced back and forth on for years.

 

I always wonder if in 10-20 years Brand New will continue to get bigger and bigger, and eventually we will talk about them like they were legends. could you imagine Brand New in the Rock and Roll HOF?

 

Wow is that how much it is? I'd say try Reddit first and if it's really sucky then fork out the money. Whenever I'm at a house that doesn't have cable I already used Reddit and a HDMI to my computer but it can be rough st times if the other teams feed is the only thing available lol

Yeah I'd probably split it with a coworker who is a huge Blues fan. So it would be like $12. I hate having to look for streams and such though, but that might be a good way to go as well. I just want to be able to watch my sports in HD haha

 

By the way, I decided to share my thoughts on the shooting in here, because it is genuine and I felt a little off posting it on the main page thread whereas people who haven't really interacted with me on here may interpret it differently than intended.

Today just feels messed up. Everything just kind of feels... I don't know, like there's no point to anything I'm doing today. It just sucks. I hate that this kind of stuff happens in the world. I hate it.

I feel this way too. Like I feel like a wind up toy. Like i'm just going through the motions of work, but nothing matters.

 

In some lighter, brighter news today, my co-worker just returned from Jamaica and brought me some authentic Blue Mountain Jamaican coffee. For those that don't know, it's imported from Jamaica and sold for upwards of like $120 a pound!

 

I'm also drinking a cold-brew coffee right now
