I’m fine with any of these, except “Chelsea.” If you’re going to cut that one, we really might as well skip b-aides altogether. Also, the version of “Chelsea” on YouTube is 1) the signature/only version, 2) not really a live audience take. It’s live in studio, but sounds as crisp as anything they’ve ever put on an album. There’s not even crowd noise. It sounds considerably better than “Love and Addiction,” for instance.
Anyway, “Possibility Days” is my pick. It’s one of Adam’s best songs lyrically, and it’s the song on this record that means the most to me.
Possibility Days These songs are wonderful bookends to this album. Palisades Park is great and it's probably the more ambitious of the two, but I just prefer Possibility Days. I really enjoy its hard-hitting lyrics.
To be fair, “Chelsea” is a studio recording. It’s just the bonus track on the live Across a Wire album
Sorry y’all, rough night last night. Sorry for slacking on this a second time. In any case, “Palisades Park” walks off with Somewhere Under Wonderland... Possibility Days - 2 Palisades Park - 5 B-Sides begin next!
After some re-consideration, “Chelsea” will be entered into the competition. This brings the number of contestants to nine songs, same as the previous category, so out first round is just a one-on-one face off... B-Sides ROUND ONE Shallow Days vs. Chelsea
I haven’t listened to either in years, and can’t remember how they go, so this will be interesting. I just listened to Shallow Days and I can’t really imagine anything topping that
Aight, I listened to Shallow Days again and I was sure I was going to pick it but I'm halfway through Chelsea and this is like the best Adam performance of all time wth. I even love the post-production tuning on his voice, it sounds soo sick. So yeah, my pick is Chelsea, but they're both like top ten songs, where the hell have I been
And “Chelsea” shuts outs “Shallow Days” in our first B-Sides round! Shallow Days - 0 Chelsea - 4 Round Two up next!
B-Sides ROUND TWO 1.) Goin’ Down to New York Town vs. Chelsea 2.) Accidentally in Love vs. She Don’t Want Nobody Near 3.) Baby, I’m a Big Star Now vs. Einstein on the Beach (For an Eggman) 4.) Love and Addiction vs. Sessions
So funny you mentioned the tuning. I’ve ALWAYS noticed that and was about to post here to see if anyone else has. Plus that recording was right around the time AutoTune came out and people really started pitch correcting haha
Chelsea She Don’t Want Nobody Near Baby, I’m a Big Star Now Sessions A pretty incredible batch of songs. “She Don’t Want Nobody Near” is one of my favorite Crows songs.
