Fun fact about this record, the track sequencing was originally much different and Fearless decided to switch it all up last minute, despite what the band actually wanted. IMO, this album flowed much better before — I thought I’d get used to it eventually but the official version still sounds really disjointed to me.

I expected You Left Me to get completely shut out. It's probably their worst song.

IIRC the band didn’t want Count Em on the record, but Fearless reeeally wanted them to include an old song, so they compromised by recording the only song they thought would fit and revamping the bridge.

The band also loved how the closer on ...Is A Real Boy had all of the background yelling and stuff going on, and they wanted theirnrecord to be like that. You can hear that influence coming through on songs like Time To Go, We’ll All Be, EIAF, and This Is The End (two theee four one!).

This story’s been told a million times, but Squire realized very early on in the studio process that the band hadn’t written any songs in 3/4 for the record, so he came into the studio one day and told them he was going to run some errands and to have one written by the time he got back — but have no timeframe. When he came back after a few hours, they’d written Kiss And Sell.

 

I made a dumb cover of it when I was 17 or 16
