I think it's fair to say that the trilogy has produced some of their worst songs by far. Kill The DJ is definitely one of them, pretty much every song on Dos except for Stray Heart. These albums are just a huge miss, I wish they would have just put out one good 12 to 15 track album and then later on released a deluxe album with the rest of the songs or just picked the next 10 to 12 best songs and scrapped the others.
Especially in comparison to Fell For You, which in my album ranking was second only to Nuclear Family
I think much of Tre is pretty good, but in terms of the first two of the trilogy, the only songs I really go back to are Stray Heart and Amy
Tre is the best because it has some of the best songs on it and also it doesn't have anything that's nearly as embarrassingly bad as Kill The DJ, Lady Cobra, or Fuck Time.
Nuclear Family (These songs are both pretty solid, but I'll give this the edge because I think that Stay the Night goes on for about a minute too long) Fell For You (This was very easy since Kill The DJ is one of the worst Green Day songs) Angel Blue (This songs are both alright, but I think this is a little more interesting) Rusty James (Another easy one - This song is pretty good and Troublemaker doesn't go anywhere)
I wonder how the trilogy would have been received if it was released as a triple album instead of scattered across several months. I think seeing such a huge chunk of songs all together would have made the Kill the Dos and Lady Cobras easier to swallow in a way. Like, oh you made 40 songs of course you can mess around on a few.
