As far as I know from research I've done, there have are only five songs that have been confirmed (although three of those were only sort-of confirmed lol) to be on it: Too Much Too Soon Cigarettes and Valentines Waste Away Sleepyhead Dropout Also, Billie Joe has said that Youngblood is a reworked version of a song that was supposed to be on C&V but we don't know if it was one of those other three or another song entirely. I think Shoplifter has just been speculated to have been on it? And some people thought Walk Away from the trilogy was from it but I think it was Mike who misspoke and meant to say "Waste Away".
Thanks for the info. Yes now that you mention it I did hear about Youngblood as it sounds familiar to me. Never heard about Waste Away, Sleepyhead or Dropout as track titles. It's crazy that C&V was never released whether it be a leak from whoever took the masters or Green Day themselves releasing it. Or in the very least Green Day recording a studio version of C&V.
I've always kind of suspected that the tapes weren't actually stolen, that it was just a story the band made up after they decided to scrap the album because they wanted to go in a different direction. Mostly because it kind of doesn't make sense that the person that took them didn't leak them and that we don't even have a complete tracklist for it. But yeah at this point I feel like enough people have asked for it that it's weird they seem to be so against doing it.
I tend to agree with you on that, especially since they ended up recovering the masters after all. The story does sound made up. Don't get me wrong I'm glad we ended up getting American Idiot from them but I'm still super interested in hearing those C&V tracks.
Honestly I know this probably isn't fair to say but based on the two songs we've heard alone I think I would've rather gotten C&V than AI personally lol. Like I enjoy AI a lot overall but am not huge on a few of the songs there.
AI is probably my favorite Green Day album front to back (or Dookie for pure nostalgia purposes since it was the 1st album I ever owned way back in 1994) so I'm completely biased. I like Too Much Too Soon and C&V but wouldn't trade either for any song on AI.
Current scores: Do Da Da - 4 Scumbag - 9 Ha Ha You’re Dead - 9 I Wanna Be on TV - 4 On the Wagon - 5 Tired of Waiting For You - 8 Outsider - 1 Desensitized - 12 Don’t Wanna Fall in Love - 4 Suffocate - 9 Sick of Me - 3 You Lied - 10 Round 2: Rotting Vs. Scumbag Ha Ha You’re Dead Vs. Tired of Waiting For You Espionage Vs. Desensitized Suffocate Vs. You Lied
Scumbag Ha Ha You’re Dead Desensitized Suffocate Pretty easy round. The only one that was a little tough for me was the last matchup.
Rotting (incredibly underrated song) Ha Ha You're Dead Desensitized Suffocate Also I don't think Too Much Too Soon was meant to be on C&V, I think it was just an American Idiot b-side
Current scores: Rotting - 6 Scumbag - 5 Ha Ha You’re Dead - 11 Tired of Waiting For You - 0 Espionage - 0 Desensitized - 11 Suffocate - 8 You Lied - 3
