Finished my first listen and the best way I can put this is they made The Night Game more accessible. Also, Martin once again crushes the production.
Yeah this is fantastic. I'm totally fine with The Night Game and Boys Like Girls converging into one, when we get results like this. Monday Morning into Physical is pure perfection.
It's so interesting how different Martin sounds now than he did in the 2000s. This really can't help but feel a little more like the third Night Game album than the fourth Boys Like Girls album, for that reason. It's great either way, though. Doesn't top Love Drunk for me as their masterpiece, but I'll be going back to it a lot.
I never got into BLGs discography and have tried over the years, but adored TNG, so having this be the third TNG album is landing. Love the album so much already, and there were plenty of moments that made my ears perk up it’s also really, really cool seeing all of these bands reuniting, but retaining the pieces of their side projects. Think it shows the growth of the genre and tolerance of the scene. Tom/Mark on One More Time (AvA, Boxcar), TNG on this, Brighton on Yellowcard’s EP…
80s tinged pop/rock is entirely not my thing, but I do enjoy this and i’ll probably be back quite a bit. This band never fails to put out high quality material, and they were incredible live a few days ago. Stoked to have them back!
I listened to The Night Game for probably six months before realizing it was “the guy” from Boys Like Girls. There’s a lot of that late 2000s scene I am just not into at all and by getting into TNG it made me go back and listen to BLG with a different perspective. Martin’s become one of my favorite songwriters and I am so glad he’s sort of combined all his experiences into this record.
Yeah this fucking rules. Definitely feels closer to TNG than older BLG, but as someone who adores TNG I’m totally fine with that.
I sing this song from time to time around the house and my wife, who did not grow up in New England, doesn't know it. Kills me, because it's one of the best songs from the 90s For the wonderrrrr...of it all!
The foxwoods jingle is perfection. I went there so much in college and the fact that he named the album after it will never not crack me up.
This reminds me of how I felt when I first heard Lovely Little Lonely. Like that - I had NO idea they had this one in them. And I love the first album in a nostalgic way, but this is pretty next level.
