Yeah, normally I wouldn't but I wasn't Crazy about Crazy World either. I don't think his vocals are my thing now. And that's totally fine. I don't think the song is bad and I don't think he's a bad singer, it's just not what I'm looking for/enjoy at the moment. I'll see how some of the other stuff looks down the line.
The other new song they have been playing, The Outside, is much closer to Great Escape/Love Drunk so I wouldn’t write off the whole album as being just Blood and Sugar the whole way through.
I listened to The Outside after hearing it sounded more like their older stuff and I don't really think it does. Still sounds kinda like The Night Game with more guitars. I think that's just where his songwriting is these days.
Yeah, I don't hear it that much either. He's clearly gone a little more country pop with his vocals style as well. I mean, they were so young when they did the first album I totally get that his vocals and tastes have changed and evolved, but it's just not what I liked from the band.
This new sound is amazing. This song particularly feels more like BLG than Night Game (whereas Blood & Sugar was more the other way round)
Weird question, but this song triggered the thought... does anyone else have a strong aversion to songs with long strings of repeated vocables? (still enjoy this song quite a bit, na na nas and all)
If these 3 songs are any indication, this album could end up being my favorite thing Martin has released
This song sounds like it could have been on the Love Drunk album. I do love the new direction BLG is going in but it's so good they've released something that throws it back a bit
