Boys Like Girls Recording New Album

Does this mean the Night Game is never going to tour to support the newest album??? I feel like I remember he broke his leg, and then Covid hit, and now here we are with no tour since years ago.

 

Martin specifically said they were putting out an album in 2023, it could possibly be finished already.

 

I absolutely love that I am the news source for this. Surprised that this hasn't been shared more widely, there were a lot of people there watching BLG.

 

That is amazing news. I was looking for live videos on Youtube from the show but there's hardly anything up there. But from the setlist I saw they played a brand new song

These guys used to get trashed on AP.net but I still think their first album was pretty solid for its time.

The Night Game however was/are very very good, they deserved much more attention.

 

I hope not. I got into the night game during covid and have been patiently waiting. Based on YouTube it seems like he toured pretty extensively before covid? I’d be bummed if I never get to see them

 

I'm sure even after his last album, which was probably finished in 2020, if not 2019, he probably has had a lot of time to work on new material, so I'd like to think we'll for sure have new material from him/them in the future. The people that did listen to his music had a great reaction to it, so I think he knows The Night Game is a great project to keep going

 

There's a video on Youtube of one of their Malaysia shows and a minute clip of the new song is called 'The Outside'. It sounds great - like a hybrid between BLG and The Night Game

The Outside sounds like something from their 3rd album which is probably their weakest. Still looking forward to new music though.

 

How though? That album had a noticeable country influence and this doesn't have any of that. It also doesn't sound like it would fit in with the dance rock, Bon Jovi-esque sound on the second record. It really does sound like a modern evolution of the first album's emo pop rock. Maybe you're hearing The Night Game influence? It's kind of noticeable in the verses.

 

This is definitely what I want from them. The albums that followed their debut self titled album were very miss than hit.

I’m sure he’s learned a lot with The Night Game as that was way more hit than miss.

 

I haven't listened to their third album in awhile so maybe I'm wrong on that, but this sounds kind of like a Bruce Springsteen song. It definitely doesn't sound like the fast-paced, palm-muted pop rock of the S/T

 

Their second album was kinda cheesy but damn it had some catchy ass bangers on it haha

 

The Night Game sounds much closer to Springsteen than their third record, which I'd argue doesn't really sound like Bruce at all. But yes, I do hear some of that influence on the verses. The chorus is definitely still vintage BLG though, seems like a natural evolution from the first record.

Major W. They were tight at WWWY weekend 2 and the new song sounded like their earlier stuff

Totally forgot they snagged a Taylor Swift feature back in the day haha

 

I remember her being a pretty big fan of the band in her early career. Sure there’s a tour video out there with her wearing some of their merch.
