Also a bunch of the crowd held up color coordinated lights on their phones not unlike the wristbands @ the eras tour, and the band had to stop and restart a song because they were so blown away by it, I have no idea how it was coordinated or wtf
a bunch of people at Boston held up blue hearts during True Blue, and others apparently throwing pink carnations up in the air during we're in love
Boygenius show kind of made me feel like the band should be all of their main project. I know that's not going to happen (and probably flat out doesn't make sense for at least Phoebe), but seeing the songs performed really made it seem more like a real band and less like the three somewhat silo'd contributors the album does at times. And in that context you could see it as greater than the sum of the parts.
Julien’s last record didn’t hit as hard as her first two for me (at least at first) but it was clearly a record she needed to make and detailed a lot of heavy, personal shit she was going through. Also the songs were even better in the live setting and seeing her with a full band really elevated the songs. It showed that she’s not just a one man show with a guitar singing her little folk songs, she’s a full on rockstar.
I’m seeing them tonight and after seeing the stuff with Lucy yesterday my heart dropped out for a second reading the first half of this
I think her debut is a marvel, but if you like the SOUND of this boygenius record at all you should be a fan of Little Oblivions.
