Also I don’t think a “true” solo tour would be much better. I mean like I said above Clairo on the Sling Tour was charging $60 (half of the tier 1 price!) and Maggie Rogers, who I would say is close in popularity to BG, is charging $90 in Chicago, with only one opener, so it’s not like a solo tour not part of this concert series would be way cheaper anyways. I just think it’s a great deal but I may be biased because I like all 4 acts haha
I think it's less a matter of fair or reasonable, what's fair I don't fucking know haha, more so that all of a sudden shows got more expensive for the most part and it sucks
This is very true, it’s why I did not pay $60 for Clairo last year and am not paying $90 to see Maggie Rogers lol
I don't think it's overpriced, I think it's overpriced for me. My price range is based on personal factors I've already described. I think comparing it to the supposed sum of individual tours is silly for reasons other have already described. Prices for resale tix for people like Taylor or Beyonce, that's a different problem.
I don’t think it’s fair to say that Phoebe, Julien and Lucy charge X amount each, therefore the price of Boygenius is reasonable. You’re not getting 3 separate sets from them, they’re one act, playing songs from that specific act. If Transplants went on tour and were charging $200 a ticket, you wouldn’t say “well Travis with Blink is typically $150 and Tim with Rancid is typically $50, therefore the price is fair!”
Seeing Phoebe (Philly), Julien (NYC), and Lucy (NYC) in 2021 cost me $180.29 Seeing them as one supergroup for $210.75 in 2023 with three additional acts also getting full sets isn’t something I was thrilled to pay, nor do I agree with the weird price tier structure at Forrest Hills, but it doesn’t seem that crazy compared to some of the other shows of late.
I agree with the others that you can't really think of their 3 respective sets when here they perform 1 set together. Also, all of those tours mentioned supposedly have some supporting acts too. I saw Julien on tour last year with Ratboys in London, which was perfect. Phoebe in Berlin didn't have any support last year (or maybe I just drew a blank now), but let's put this into perspective - BOCC in Berlin just before the pandemic hit was like 40$ - should I think how much I'd pay to see Phoebe and Bright Eyes seperately? Also, Christian Lee Hutson held a perfect support act, which should be taken into the account too. I'd say I have to second the notion that maybe it's not that overpriced in general for the time being, as it just is overpriced for me - most times I'm gonna prefer to catch 4 smaller acts on 4 different trips for the same amount of money altogether
somewhere out there, at least a dozen queer people just passed out at this announcement. acquiring tickets to this thing will be a bloodbath.
The park can hold 20k-40k from a search. I don't think it will be a bloodbath to get a ticket to that.
I guess I really need to get around to listening to Ethel Cain huh? The name has been unavoidable lately
