That’s largely where we have landed. We tend to hold off on big shows (alkaline trio at wrigley aside) unless the secondary market is favorable. We’d rather do a lot more club shows throughout the year. It’s a better value for us and quite frankly, I feel more comfortable in those types of shows.
Are the ticket prices everyone is talking about in here for the entire three day mini-festival, or just the Boygenius date?
just the Boygenius date I want to go to 2 of the dates, and I wouldn’t mind seeing James Blake so I think it might actually be cheaper to get the 3 day pass rather than 2 single days haha
Two pricing tiers for the same ticket is the dumbest shit I’ve seen in my life. Got two tickets for $310 lol
Missed Tier 1 tix, I'm not paying $150 to see boygenius and Clairo when I've already seen each individual at least twice, festivals aren't really my jam anyway
i was shocked that I was able to use my code just now for CHI after being distracted all day to get tickets until I saw the price for a single day GA ticket. Barf. only reason I was able to get over it is because I’m more excited for Dijon
Dang I thought I was in the FOB thread and these were fall out boy prices. I've had to scale back on shows so much. Just cannot afford these prices anymore. I feel like old man yelling at cloud lol
Sometime before the season of Saturday Night Live wraps up, we need Kristen Stewart to host and have Boygenius be musical guest. Make it happen, universe!
They surprisingly did! Her “fuck” up was in 2017 and they brought her back in 2019, so anything’s possible!
I’ve seen some people talk about how outrageous the price is, and I do agree it can seem pricey at first glance but to put it in perspective, basing this off of Chicago prices: Phoebe solo last year (sold out) - $60 Julien headliner 2021 (sold out) - $30 Lucy last year (sold out) - $30 Clairo last year on the Sling Tour (sold out) - $60 Dijon last year (sold out) - $20 Bartees Strange last year (pretty crowded) - $20 That totals $220 (and I may be off slightly with fees added, these prices are from memory or google). I think you’re getting a great value to see these four acts play headlining sets. I indicated that most of their solo shows were solid out to show that next time all of them roll through solo it will be pricier, which makes the case that this is a good deal even stronger. I know they’re not playing solo material, but they’d probably be charging $50+ on a “true solo” boygenius tour with like, one opener or something. Obviously if you’re not a fan of all the acts you’ll think it’s overpriced, but if you’re a fan of all 4 acts it’s a good deal. Thoughts?
If you only want to see Boygenius, it sucks. I’m a huge fan of the lineup though and it’s absolutely worth the price for me.
Absolutely, if you only want to see them it does suck. But the argument I’m seeing more is that charging the price they are for 4 acts is ridiculous, which based on what they charge solo, this concert series is cheaper, and they’re also all getting headlining sets.
I don't think it's entirely fair to say Phoebe was $60, Lucy was $30, Julien was $30, so combined it's worth $120. They're still one band playing one set in this situation. But still I mean I did pay $90 for pit for Phoebe, and even if you say $40 for Clairo, $20 for Bartees, $20 for Dijon, then it does work itself out. Although you could also argue all those tours also had openers who aren't here which were a part of the cost of those as well. I don't necessarily think this is overcharged, but I get why people think it is, and ultimately whether it's a good value is going to come down to how well the event actually runs.
This is also $150 for 4 bands. You listed 6 different concerts with at least 12 different performers for $220.
