I can’t make it to the theaters right now so I’m glad this is dropping soon. I’ve been really excited to see it, especially after the reactions in this thread

 

This was so great.

 

This is pure gold. Instant classic. Love how insane the finale was.

This was so good. Rachel Sennott is a star, so much fun to see her off the rails in this.

 

This was great. Between this, Joy Ride, and Theater Camp, it's been a great year for comedies.

 

This stinks so far. Does it get any better in the second half?

Finally seeing this tonight. And just in time because it looks like this will probably be one of the last days to catch a showing near me.

 

This was pretty damn funny. Ayo and Rachel (really the whole cast) were hilarious. The running gag of the football players always being in uniform got me every time.

While I did love it, and it's probably my favorite comedy of the year, the surreal tone didn't always land. It's a heightened version of a high school, but it didn't always feel fully committed to the bit. At times it seemed to settle into feeling like these are all normal people in a normal place and then the next thing you know they have to fight a boxer who's been kept in a cage during a pep rally. Again, I'm not saying it wasn't hilarious, but sometimes there was a little bit of whiplash before I started laughing again.

 

Part of the genius of a WHAS or Zucker film is going full tilt into the absurdity. Those films have a consistent comedic rhythm throughout. The tonal difference between scenes in this just makes both sides fall flat. To say nothing of the poor comedic directing.
