From Boston, not Stoneham but... My partner and I have made it a tradition to visit Baldwin in Woburn every holiday season. That place is amazing! The food and the cocktails both rip.

We usually wind up there another couple times each year usually after spending time at the Stone Zoo (even if animals aren't your thing their Zoo Lights displays are pretty fun).

I love the Baldwin so much. The drink prices are ridiculous (I took myself there for my birthday a couple weeks ago and paid $16-$19 for each drink) but they really know what they’re doing.

I’m a big animal person but not so much a zoo person. I would love to check out the lights display though, I’ve heard it’s nice.

man I hard disagree on this take. Bova’s is good for the 24 hrs of it all but I can think of at least 5 places I’d go for a cannoli first during waking hours. (Mikes modern dello sport artu and shout out to Eastie/rt 1 with Spinelli’s.)

Having side by sided a few times including blind I actually do think Mike’s is the best. Wouldn’t turn my nose up at any tho I love a cannoli

So I’m not a big cannoli person. I go to Bova’s for the calzone of it all, and that 3am buff chick pastry they make

Bovas being always open was definitely a significant reason I’d drunkenly find my way there very, very often during college

I used to have friends who lived on Sheafe st and I’d regularly make Bova’s my last stop before heading out of the city for the night. Developed quite the soft spot lol

We’re trying to get closer to Haverhill where my family is at. We need an extra bedroom for our new daughter.

Hey sort of neighbor! But for real New England real estate is hell. It was better for me to take what I had saved for a down payment and then a personal loan to convert the basement at my parents house into an apartment for me and my son.

We bought our (supposed) starter house in 2020. Our neighborhood and location is amazing I think we're going to end up doing a 200-300k addition when kid 1 is out of daycare. I honestly don't see up replicating the kind of neighborhood were in for a better house that is at least that cost. It'll likely be far more expensive.

I think that’s a good idea. Plus the New England market seems to be one that isn’t going to crash any time soon. Some unsolicited advice on construction… make sure your contractor has experience in your specific city/town so they can easily pull permits and get all the necessary permits at once. From experience, that shit will cause some unnecessary delays lol.

My wife and I are sorta "stuck" on what to do. We bought our 2-bedroom condo in 2020 in Tewksbury with a 3% interest rate before prices skyrocketed. We have very good equity in this and now want to buy a house.

We want to live in Tewksbury or nearby because we are both from here, currently live here, her parents are here, and it's the town over from both our jobs. However, 2-3 bedroom ranches that need work in this town or adjacent towns are already close to 600k and even with a 20% downpayment our mortgage will still be close to 4k a month. We really don't want to go that high because IF we decide to have kids, we will not be able to afford 4k mortgage, plus daycare, plus life without being terminally stressed.

Yeah, my wife and I are in the same boat. We bought our house in 2020, a nice ranch on a decent sized lot in a great neighborhood in Holden. Quiet, two blocks from a back path to the elementary school playground, great schools, etc. Our rate is 2.7 and our mortgage is 1500 right now. We have two kids in daycare a 3 year old and infant, for a 3200 monthly bill for that. We could sell and make around 150k on our house, but even putting all of that down to something in the 600-700 range would still triple our mortgage.

Going to Roadrunner for a show this weekend. Does anyone have recommendations for restaurants/bars for before/after the show?

I’ve been to Rail Stop across the street from Roadrunner a few times because it was convenient and the food/drinks were pretty good. Gets crazy busy before a show though

Theres a Turkish cafe nearby that I loved when I went. Also Mainely Burgers is a couple doors down and pretty good for a quick bite. Or if you want drinks/bar food then there's Broken Record literally right next to the venue but I've never been so no clue if its good. Lots of options in walking distance too. Decent variety of food of you look east of the Stop & Shop from what I remember.
