Grabbed a cheap flight and a ticket to the Julien Baker event at The Sinclair that Tuesday after the fest. If any locals have recommendations re: food or record shops, it’d be appreciated!
Does anyone know what time things start on Friday? I haven’t bought tickets yet but I finally convinced my wife to go. She can’t get off work though, so she might have to meet me there. I really want to see Big Thief and I have a feeling they’ll be playing early, so I want to make sure I plan things out properly. Depending on the start time I might be able to just wait for her to get out.
Things started around 2:30 last year, and I'm pretty sure gates were at 12. I got there about 30 minutes before gates opened and it took me some time to get in... And later in the afternoon the lines were exponentially longer. But supposedly they've added more entrances and streamlined the process some in order to make it easier. The schedule will be released ahead of the festival, so you should know ahead of time what's what. Last year it dropped on the 12th so it'll probably be coming late next week (Friday, the 11th would make sense to me).
Harvard Square is right down the street from the festival and has some pretty fun spots depending on what you're into. My personal favorite is Felipe's -- great burritos and a roof deck with frozen margaritas. I also like Charlie's Kitchen in that neighborhood for a quick bite to eat/drink. The venue itself actually has a restaurant attached to it that's pretty okay too (not amazing, but decent enough). Armaggedon Records is right in that area too. It's a smaller store, but they have some pretty cool stuff.
Bryson Tiller cancelled. He's being replaced by a DJ set from Mike D. Well. That might be enough to get me there now...
From what I saw of it, it seemed "fun." I was close to going on Sunday, anyway... Hopefully I can get a cheap, second-hand ticket.
I think the schedule is dropping later today. They posted a vague "It's coming..." on Facebook with an image saying there's a "big announcement." Kind of weird to call a schedule drop a "big announcement," instead of just saying the schedule is coming, but it's right about that time -- and they seem to have locked in the final artist.
Schedule is up on the app. Probably "officially" dropping on the web site, etc. tomorrow... Julien Baker and the Alvvays overlapping is enough for me to retract that statement about possibly buying a ticket for Sunday, hah.
