Yeah, this movie is absolutely joyous. Rarely do you see a director having so much fun. Maybe it's just because my tastes usually lean toward the dour (Ingmar Bergman is my favorite filmmaker), but this movie almost brought me to tears on several occasions just because it seems to so perfectly capture the spontaneity and thrill of being young. It's a celebration of friendship, of the potential for goodness in all people, and, really, of the joy (that word again) of filmmaking.
I was wrong, this is actually at all the theaters around me. Going to try to go either tonight or Sunday. I’m so stoked.
Yes, definitely see it. And force all friends, enemies, family, co-workers, and general acquaintances to see it. I hope it makes as much money as possible so we can continue to get movies like this produced.
I've been meaning to watch Edge of Seventeen for forever. I should do that tonight seeing as it's on Netflix. I wish Lady Bird was too
In a way it helps that I saw this again the day after watching Aladdin. Going from a movie that largely felt like a product to one that's bursting at the seams with heart, energy, emotion and other cliched words (lol) was quite the trip
. Also the music for that entire party scene but specially the pool / argument / fallout. The directing, soundtrack, and acting really are all clicking so hard during that stretch.
Loved this. The leads were great, the entire cast was good really. Billie Lourd is perfect and I hope this is what finally breaks her out (even though it should have been her character in Scream Queens). I just want to watch it again right now.
