That subplot should never have made it into the film. The tonal issue of shifting between ultra realistic and super surreal is one thing, but that just should not have happened and brings it down for sure.
Kaitlin is so good in unbelievable but I hope that goes to Merritt Wever because she is so good in that too.
finally just saw this last week. loved 95% of it - thought it was hilarious. as a teacher (and just a human being in general???), I thought the storyline of the teacher hooking up with the student was disgusting.
At the record store today I was pleasantly surprised to find this, didn’t know it had a physical release
I forgot to add, I just finished “Movies (And Other Things)” by Shea Serrano and he has a whole chapter on why Booksmart is such a special movie
I think it really speaks to how good the movie is that he chose to add a whole chapter on Booksmart after the book was finished. So dope.
