The same thing happened with Carol. I watched that on a plane and noticed some weird cuts, turned out it was censored. But the nudity for no discernible reason in Everybody Wants Some was totally intact on the same flight.
I watched Carol on a flight and when the movie was over, I thought it was odd I didn't see a single kiss!
When I used to have Tuesdays off I would go to the movies around noon most weeks and overhead so many great things from the older couples just there to waste time.
I was in 3rd grade when I learned the concept of gay and lesbian relations from classmates and completely accepted it as reality... this was early 90s. Censoring this in movies is incredibly stupid in this day and age.
Maybe cuz I’m in blue state Connecticut I’d go to indie movies with progressive themes and it was almost entirely old people in the audience and no objection/confusion whatsoever
I watched about half of this movie on my last flight back from France (not Delta) and did not find it to be very funny. The Uber scene was okay, but a little predictable. I would like to see the rest obviously before passing judgement on it. The school scenes made me feel way out of touch...
For what it’s worth the second half of the movie is a lot stronger, though I don’t know if that will make a difference if the rest of the humor didn’t work for you.
Yeah, if the start of the movie wasn't hitting, I don't think the second half radically changes enough to sway someone's opinion.
So I finally saw this and thought it was good, but pretty overhyped. I think my main criticism is almost no one in the movie felt like an actual person. Like, the plot of Superbad might be equally outlandish, but the kids still seemed like actual kids. I recognize that could be that I was much closer to high school when Superbad came out, but things like Billie Lourd’s character just magically appearing places, and all the kids somehow getting into these elite colleges (where the fuck is this high school?), made it veer into the surreal in a way that I didn’t like. Also, reallllly weird subplot with the long-haired student hooking up with the teacher. Way too underdeveloped. I don’t mean to sound too harsh. It was funny and I enjoyed watching it. And the pool scene was fantastic. But it wasn’t the classic I was expecting.
I've seen too many people act like the teacher hooking up with the student wasn't a big deal because he's 18 or whatever. just so extremely inappropriate, that plotline was a big ol yikes.
