Music festivals shouldn't need down payments.

I'm confused by this comment. Festival layaway has made festivals much more in reach for many attendees. It's $34 for a down payment on a Bonnaroo ticket, and then 4 additional $96 payments over 4 months. Most festivals do something very similar now and not requiring someone to drop $400 at time of purchase is a good thing for students and those working part time jobs.

Are you just saying that festivals are too expensive?

It's a good thing to offer layaway plans... it's just the marketing that bothers me. "Tickets starting at just $35 down" definitely sells tickets quicker than "General Admission is $349". Not a huge deal, just a pet peeve!

Festivals are also way too expensive, but consistently sell out... so I guess I'm just out of touch. Looking back, Bonnaroo was ~$249 in 2009 and $150 in 2003, so I guess it hasn't gotten way more expensive with inflation included.
