the artist on Hayward just says Justin. feel like this was taken from his own computer haha or someone close to him
Dude has a revolving door of artists at his spot. I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a bunch of files sitting on a hard drive.
lmao "A little more guitar" - Justin "A little less keyboard" - Mike "A little more bon iver!" - fan in crowd
So several years ago now one of my sister’s friends went missing and was never found, but the guy all evidence points to as the culprit behind her disappearance was sentenced to prison, and at the time I had found a messageboard devoted to missing persons cases. There was already a thread there about this girl’s case and people were spreading wild, insane rumors about her so I decided to create an account to try and step in and squelch the bullshit so her family and friends wouldn’t have to run across it and feel attacked. I named myself “Holocene” because it was one of my favorite songs and, when someone asked, I mentioned that it was a song by this artists named Bon Iver. I also quickly realized the “True Crime” forums are largely very, very conservative. Well. Eventually, this being the internet and all, these people got tired of me shutting down their inane, baseless theories about this girl possibly being a secret government operative or a trafficked heroin addict, and they decided to turn their ire on to me. They started pointing the finger at me and claimed that I was the real culprit there to cast aspersions and fool authorities and internet websleuthers alike or whatever and that’s when I started seeing these vague, bizarre posts referencing me being a Satanist? I had no idea where this was coming from or why, but they were going so far as to say that I worshipped the devil (hail Satan) and that I wanted to stalk and kill this girl as a human sacrifice to the dark lord. When pushed for evidence of this, they then revealed that they had googled my username and artist I’d mentioned and, wouldn’t you know it, found this bizarre satanic video full of symbols and sounds denigrating Christianity and it was, you guessed it: Oh I had myself a good laugh about that. Never, ever underestimate the internet.
lmao this is incredible I remember when the lyric video for 33 GOD was first posted and some dude made a super long video about how demonic it was and that Justin Vernon was part of the illumnati
"We can confirm that the vice president purchased Ellsworth cheese curds, a jar of Kaiserson honey, and an S. Carey album on vinyl" taaaste!
lol yeah and I actually remembered last night that that forum was all abuzz about how if you looked into even more of this artist’s output then you’d find even more strange, bizarre, satanic symbols and, yeah, I’m pretty positive 33 GOD was one of them as well. Hahaha, so fucking ridiculous I remember feeling like I was losing my mind.
ironic because JV is a student of gospel music, much more so than your average (all?) conservative(s) in 2024
Yes. I think I even tried explaining his background to them and that he was a Grammy winning artist to no avail. They even looked up this old, shitty student film I’d made about human trafficking and made the connection there as well. They were so insane that they reported me to the police using those things as their “evidence”. I got an apology for that later (from the police, not the crazies). So those are the two things that put me in the crosshairs of a bunch of internet nutterbutters accusing me of murder: an old, embarrassing student film, and Bon Iver.
