Wow, that's intense! I only really know Hazeltons but I'll definitely check this out. Looks like the LPs will be on bandcamp digitally but not the live cds Am I right in thinking that the only full releases in this are 'Hazeltons' and 'Silent Signs' and the rest is a compilation of songs from various sources?
Yeah that seems to be right. Though all the tracks from the self titled DYE album (which honestly rivals Silent Signs for me) look to be spread across the comp. Also looks like a large number of tracks from JVs "self record" are spread across it as well. Some of his classics come from that album. There's definitely a handful of unreleased tracks in here too.
Other than Silent Signs which has been up there forever, I'm not sure. There's 2 tracks streaming now from the first LP in the comp so perhaps that as well? They recently created a playlist and I'm fairly confident we'll get more added to it. Praying Hazeltons makes its way onto spotify.
Think I'm gonna pull the trigger on this one. Justin was a very influential artist for me growing up and I'd like to be able to revisit these recordings and the 120-page book
I really would have bought this if it had self titled in the set. As it is I’ll wait to see if silent signs and that are released separately.
Please press silent signs separately i am begging. Its one of my top three “never been pressed at all” records
Thread bump has me realizing I could really go for a new Bon Iver album. 4 years since the last one!?!?
Apple Music has all 83 songs up (not available yet, awaiting release) as though they’re all coming to streaming. Including hazelton etc.
The Lonnie Holley album from a few months back with BI on a track is really, really incredible stuff. I don't think I've seen anyone talk about it on here, so check it out.
HYLI Vol. LXVII - Bon Iver and Thou dusted off FE, FA for the newsletter, album is still incredible despite what the metalhead dork that i do the newsletter with thinks
Good read! My band had the chance to play with Chained to the Bottom of the Ocean once a few years back. Knew nothing of them going into it and it was one of the coolest experiences ever. The sound was so immersive I felt like I was leaning forward and the sound waves were holding me up. Utterly unreal. Never read anybody else talking about them.
Such a brilliant idea for a newsletter! Also you should let Andy know that the Chained to the Bottom of the Ocean song "Summer Comes to Multiply" is blatantly referencing BI lol
haha i texted him about that and mentioned it in the newsletter two weeks ago. it's why i chose BI this week haha.
I cannot recommend this EP enough (you'll notice right away that the title track was basically Holocene pt.0) There are several JV solo tracks I'd take over some of the biggest BI tracks.
