can't say it any better than this after one listen, honestly I was stuck in a state of "holy shit I'm listening to a new bon iver album" to remember/write down any coherent thoughts i will say that "Short Story" that comes in after "Awards Season" gave me a feeling I won't ever forget. My wife and I were walking around a park and it literally took me off my feet. Was absolutely gobsmacked.
It's really wild how insanely different all the albums sound. This isn't like i,i at all. And there was SO. MUCH. HAPPENING. in the background of each song.
Yeah I can’t imagine that the closest park to Boston was actually over 100 miles away. But maybe? Boston IS pretty boring. I think in my case the site or my phone was just being weird. If I were more excited for the album I would’ve tried harder
you didn’t have to go to the one it tells you to go to — just walk into one of the pink areas (parks) on the map, those were kind of everywhere. it was kind of confusing
Album did almost nothing for me until Day One, which is wonderful. Hopefully this is a turning point - the next track is sounding good too. (This will almost certainly be the minority opinion. The EP also did nothing for me, unfortunately. It’s all good though.)
Excited to listen to the full thing tomorrow. Have been wearing out the songs released so far this week
seems like he really committed to this being two releases in one package with the vinyl. just learned disc 1 is the entirety of SABLE playing at 45 RPM (with only Awards Season on side B), while sides C and D are the new fABLE songs playing at 33⅓.
I really like that concept. I thought it very strange he put out an entire EP that's the first half of an entire album. It's actually a great way to market a full album release especially if they're meant to be taken in separate contexts.
i mostly just mean the 45 to 33 thing it’s kind of a pain on my record player personally lol. it’s a nice concept tho
Yeah, me too. I have a project carbon, so I literally take my platter off and move the belt any time I need to switch speeds. Definitely a hassle, but I actually like the bit of effort where the artist is intentionally creating separation.
