haha not you man i value your opinion and posts. if it seems like I'm being a jerk it's just because i will go to my grave defending JV in any fashion haha
Wash is extremely underrated and a top tier song on BI, BI Lump Sum is the undisputed most underrated track in the discography tho for sure
Ahhh nah I just made that in jest; I knew you were referring to the other dude, hahaha. But yeah I know this album clicks a lot more for some than others. I tried going through it a few times, but it's just not for me
remember that time he covered The Park by Feist and it was incredible and made everyone in the thread happy? I remember
Sure the numbers aren't random but they might as well be for the listener. Numerology is exhausting. I'm sure I could find some sort of interest in their meanings if I liked the album more. I don't think that's a lazy opinion-- I think Justin is an innovator and he's going to keep innovating. This particular experiment just didn't resonate with me. The sampling of different songs were cool, and I love Fleetwood Mac lol, but it wasn't executed well imo (hip-hop has utilized this artistic technique long before Justin). I liked him better with just an acoustic guitar, his strange and beautiful poetry, and his vocoder. Maybe his next project will be better suited to my tastes.
this is the kind of well thought out criticism i like to see i'd definitely love to see him maybe pull a sufjan and write something more stripped back after such an electronic album (like adz -> c&l)
Someone saying Creeks is just 3 minutes of Justin talking through auto tune is maybe the worst thing I’ve read this week where I’ve read a lot of bad things
the lyrics border on the best he's ever written, IMO. "Toiling with your blood I remember something In B, un—rationed kissing on a night second to last Finding both your hands As second sun came past the glass And oh, I know it felt right And I had you in my grasp" one of the most beautifully powerful things ive heard in music
There is alot of great performances of this song but this stands alone as the best the part II section is just so so perfect
I expected this record to be a Kid A album for me before it released, where critics love it and I can't feel any connection cause it's too abstract. But man, this is one of those albums where the experimentation only heightens my emotional response to the music and lyrics. It's so good.
Agreed. I can't even imagine Strafford APTS without the crackling pitched up last line.. it adds so much

never forget theneedledrop gave BI BI and 22AM a combined score of 11/20 and said BI BI was "tinny and flat" sorry for bringing up that name but i will never get over it
Idk if anyone linked this to you, but this might give you a little more insight into the typo-numerology of the album Designing Bon Iver's 22, a Million: An Interview with Eric Timothy Carlson
