Breathtaking, thank you. One of the things that I enjoy SO MUCH about this album cycle is how Justin & the band turns compositions constructed out of some really cold, technical sounds into such into organic, breathing music live. Maybe some other artists could make the "sound" of this album, but 99.99999% of them could never even begin to find such human entrances into recreating it each night.
Couldn't have said it better myself. Creeks is a great example of this. Lately he's got the messina low in the mix so his real unfiltered voice shines through. Listen to this if you haven't. This version is fucking nuts. Especially 1:36. That fucking vibrato UGH
Jesus. I'm not really a "look up every live version of the song on YouTube" kind of guy, but you're primed to turn me into one for this tour. Quick story: when I saw them live in New York at the beginning of this cycle last year (Sept/Oct?), he wasn't 100% sure how to use the messina yet for this song. Took him like 4 tries because he was either singing or playing in the wrong key. It was kind of funny at first, but after like three attempts when he still wasn't getting it, I started to worry that he wasn't going to get it. Then he said something like, "don't worry guys, I'm a professional musician" (first thing he'd said all night) and proceeded to CRUSH IT. That show was great for a lot of reasons, but that's the moment I'll remember in 10 years.
Well that was maybe the best set on this tour cycle so far. He had Fionn Regan with him. They did Abacus together right into 00000 Million. Also includes a crazy live version of woods and the best version of both 33 GOD and 8 (circle) I've heard yet Video is on the "ARTE Concert" FB page.
Nobody cares but the set was ripped https://scontent-amt2-1.xx.fbcdn.ne...=8239eb0995dca30894542c3ebde36034&oe=59BC8ADD
I wish I could relive seeing him at Coachella weekend 2 this year. That set was really special but I spent a lot of the time wondering what was going on and trying to predict what would happen next
I'm driving down to the Louisville show but I hope this means we get some midwest dates early next year..
The Live at Cork Opera House set has been cut into a live album Bon Iver - Live at Cork Opera House: Sounds from a Safe Harbour; mp3 album download • r/boniver y'all REALLY need to hear the version of Woods, 8 (circle), and 33 GOD from this set. I need to hear some reactions haha
If I had to pick a favorite, it would come down to either Emma, BI, BI or 22. They're all my favorite.
BI, BI easily. what a body of work he has though....there are some days i'm tempted to put Repave on top.
Gun to my head I think I pick BI, BI.. I'd probably rather die than choose tho.. And I agree about Repave.
My ranking from worst to best is chronological. They're all stellar though. I think it's about time I listen to Repave finally.
Oooooooh man. Repave is too good. Their show in MKE for that album is still one of the best shows I've ever been to.
