yeah i mean it's a decent folk pop song with a solid melody but i like his weirder stuff so much more i had never even heard of brackett, WI, lol
I love Skinny Love - I think the songwriting is incredible. Probably my favourite of his folky stuff.
I'll always love it, especially live. I've just heard it so many times that I'd pick most tracks on FEFA over it.
oh yeah it's definitely a good song, i was thinking through it last night. just not my style for the most part, hah. the fact he could make a song that good that i like it means a lot
That version of Blindsided was so good, he was playing a white SG and had a really cool solo. After reading up on recent set lists I was pretty satisfied with what we got. I've gone full circle on Skinny Love probably twice now, for the longest time I thought it was overrated compared to the rest of his catalog, but I can't help but feel it's still one of his best songs even if I wouldn't rank it as a personal favorite. When he played it live with that classic Sear's catalog steel guitar, just him and that magnificent voice of his, holy shit...he could fill the pavilion in a way the band didn't? I could watch just him and a guitar all night, show exceeded my expectations. The lighting and artwork being played behind him was really cool too.
For sure, I love Merriweather. Nice! If I could afford it I would be too. Are you going to pull a triple header and catch The Chain Smokers tomorrow night?
Can't hate on Skinny Love just because of the success it's had. Amazing song. The guitar work, while not overly complicated, is really neat. Also the fact that it was recorded in a semi-tone makes it that much more interesting.
I mean.... let's all be honest, Skinny Love is probably the thing that got everyone into Bon Iver in the first place.
I'm listening to this on the first time in forever, and I have to say: I truly believe people underestimate 666 as a song...it's absolutely unprecedented
I'm so mad that when I switched to Spotify/my main music computer broke that I lost that Pioneer Works set. Everything sounds soooo good on it. Hopefully it eventually comes to Spotify
Don't think I'll be posting here for awhile so I wanted to share this real quick. This is a rip from the pro-shot set at Primavera. There's video as well. Crazy good set list and the best version of Holocene and 45 I've heard yet. Bon Iver - Live at Primavera Sound (2017) - Shared with pCloud
don't leave buddy love you that whole thing was just a misunderstanding on all sides and an opportunity for discussion and everyone to grow you are a good member of this community and nobody meant it as a shot to you personally
Bon Iver's For Emma, Forever Ago Turns 10 I think it's actually supposed to be tomorrow, but hey, close enough. Very simply, this album changed my life. It grabbed me instantly and after 10 years has yet to grow even slightly stale. Thanks for everything, Justin. Maybe if I have some time this weekend/early next week I'll do a longer write-up about it.
That album hit me on a snowy night in college. I was high walking back to my dorm lost in the world of loving my best friend at the time, and not knowing what the hell I wanted. And I put it on repeat until I went to bed. It was such a profound moment in my musical life and whenever I listen to that album, the memory of that listen always returns.
