hard to say where this falls in his discog. i still cant decide if i like for emma or s/t more and this just muddies up the conversation more. i guess id say all three albums are all about as good as the others.
for emma is the only BI album that hasn't clicked for me. it's fine and I like it but it's just never really hit me.
To me I don't think this one feels quite as complete as an album as his others but it most definitely contains a lot of his best tracks. I guess that's exactly what I'd say about The Life of Pablo.
At this point, I know I like this more than For Emma but less than Bon Iver, but that's a very fluid ranking and can and probably will change. All 3 of his records are phenomenal.
This will end up being my third favorite, but that's nothing against the record - the other two are just phenomenal
My preference for his records always shifts depending on the weather and setting. For Emma will always be the perfect music to me when it's snowing and freezing. I really don't think there's another album that I enjoy listening to more while walking in the cold. On the other hand, s/t always gives me this awakening/realization vibe and seems just right for any roadtrips outside of summer. I'm still trying to figure out where this one belongs in my makeshift reasoning
i'm with you. for emma has always been very winter, bi, bi very spring/summer. so if this one can be my fall bon iver, i'll be happy haha.
if your listening experience to for emma isn't heightened when there's snow on the ground SOMETHING IS WRONG W/YOU.
Yeah, definitely this. I don't go more than a week without listening to Bon Iver in some fashion but there's something about For Emma in the winter.
It's actually his own creation. A mix of software and hardware that lets him adjust his voice on the fly.
At the moment I think this is my second favourite, just behind For Emma. They're three 10/10 records though so I don't think there's a great deal between them.
Good for Solange for having such a strong debut! I thought this was a shoo in for top of the charts, but it's not like he missed because sales were bad or anything
