damn you americans. I think its a Canada thing, vinyl prices up here have been raised so much in the past year.
can someone smuggle the vinyl over the boarder for me so I can save 20$? That seems reasonable right....
Are you in Toronto? I haven't check yet, but Kops typically has the best prices in town and they've probably got it.
Adjusted for exchange rates, inflation and shipping, it's probably pretty much comparable to $21.99 USD. I paid a hefty price to get mine shipped in from the US through the Bon Iver website.
ya i am. Im going to be doing a run through kops/rotate/sonic boom when I get the chance. (though sonic boom i have noticed has a lot higher prices as well). And ya I know why the prices are so high now (exchange rates + shipping) but god do I miss the days of 19$ LP's from any shop. Also I might be remembering wrong, but back when HMV's vinyl selection was a lot smaller (and almost no variety) you could get 3 for 45$.
Finally listened to my record that came in on friday just now (it killed me to wait that long but didnt have the time to sit down and listen/digest properly until now). totally knocks it out of the park. it feels so dynamic.
Just the way it's set up. The art is great and there's even rough 1st drafts of lyrics. See for yourself:
Yeah Sonic Boom is kinda a rip off when I can walk down to Queen and catch it at Kops for $3-5 less. They've got best selection though.
Not sure if I posted this here, but a few days before this released I was just thinking about how Volcano is such an incredible album, because it doesn't overstay its moments and it's pretty much 33 minutes of punch after punch. I kind of feel the same here. 34ish minutes of A+ moments
Forgot how short Repave is. It uses the space it's given pretty well. It feels like such a huge album. Man, I have so many great memories associated with Repave!
Gonna listen to Repave today. You're definitely right about how much they fit into the run time. The end of Almanac is one of my favorite moments in music.
I'm actually making a year end video set to that song. One of my all time favorite moments in music. "All of this is over, all of, all of this is over.."
Okay I was thinking of Gayngs and did not realize that Repave is the name of the album and a different project. I remember my brother mentioning that for some reason did not check it out. Doing that now.
Repave is unreal how good it is. I associate a lot of my early college memories with that record. Tell us what you think after listening!
Great fucking memories of that tour, saw it two weeks before I got married so I associate it with that time. Justin's parents were there and it was just really special.
Repave doesn't quite hold a candle to BI,BI but it's fucking fantastic and I'd love it if they toured again, or put out another record.
I like his use of his lower register in Repave. Also those songs are epic, and Bi,BI is very "light" to me. Although not bad by any means, Repave sounds "bigger."
