I think I may have found my first tattoo in "it harms me, I'll let it in." Painfully resonant. Let's see how this album ages for a year.
Was mulling over the idea of getting something from the new album. Not sure yet. I already have the Eaux Claires logo tattooed on my leg and a half sleeve dedicated to re:stacks
Here's an awful photo of the re:stacks one, the crow has a cig in his mouth with"re:stacks" written in it. Going to get it finished next month. I'll get a pic of the EC one when I get home. edit: not really a "half sleeve" but its fucking huge
I wish I liked this more. Maybe need a less distracted listen but so far nothing has stuck out to me.
What's weird to me is that on repeated listens I know this an objectively good to great record and yet can't figure out why I can't latch onto it more.
I think it's a grower. I'm the biggest JV fanboy around and even I was unsure even seeing it live. First thing I said out loud was "not sure how I feel about that". I was initially a bit bummed.
Here's a small write up on 21 MOON WATER I posted on Reddit over 2 weeks ago. Thought you guys might interested in my thoughts about that song: "Much like how David Bowie's Blackstar is the closest thing to what death translated into music would sound like, the studio version of this song realizes anxiety to life. 21 M♢♢N WATER brings me back to some dark places despite having listened to it for the first time last week. After reading about Justin's personal struggle with anxiety while making this album, you can hear it come to fruition through this song in particular. I can't wait for you all to hear it and to hear your thoughts on it." 21 M♢♢N WATER is the auditory manifestation of anxiety • /r/boniver
opposite for me. i was at ec as well and was immediately so blown away. i felt a bit bummed after hearing the recorded version for the first time. but yeah, i'm head over heels for it now.
First thoughts are that it is pretty alright. Some songs I dug, but overall, not sure how much I'm going to go back.
It certainly blew me away I just wasn't sure what to think. Seeing your favorite artist reveal an entire new album live is alot to process.
I listened to this record three times so far and I really dont see how people are calling it a "difficult" record Like yeah there are vocal effects but it feels so natural with his progression as an artist None of this isn't pretty sounding either. It's not like he's not making beautiful music anymore. Anyway, really like this. I don't think I like it as much as For Emma (my fav BI album) but definitely think there are more standouts than there are on BI BI
Well this is fucking unbelievable, innit? Not enough discussion ever about how innovative his horns on his albums ALWAYS are. Also someone's gonna have to tell me how he got more Hornsby AND more Yeezus simultaneously. That shouldn't be possible.
so relatively fucked fuckified it fucks with your honor fuck the fashion of it, dear fuck the fiercest fables what am I missing? hahaha
definitely see the influence but i don't see how the two can be compared as records. theyre extremely different and the vocal manipulations go for very different effects
