Finished the season last night, everything about Todd and his girlfriends porn family was insane and probably my favorite bit the show has ever done
Haven’t watched yet but I’m gonna knock it out tofay. Is it the best season yet? Every season has been better than the last for me
I don't know if I'd say it's the best season (3 still holds that place for me), but it has the best episode of the entire series
I loved them connecting the discussion on normalizing sexual abusers in entertainment to the way tv shows normalize negative, toxic behavior by having their bad representations be likable and relatable characters. The whole "I'm fucked up, but we're all fucked up so I don't have to change or get better" dialogue was beautifully written, and perfect for a show that is not the worst example of this in action, but is partly guilty of the same things.
This entire season felt very meta in that regard. Even the monologue episode references the being "good" with huge grand gestures instead of just being consistently and dependably a "good" person thing I actually loved that they made that a central theme because I was definitely guilty of identifying with certain aspects of Bojack's personality and subconsciously justifying those traits by being like "Well I acknowledge that it's not good, so it's fine" because Bojack, for all the shit he's done and problems he's caused, always has been a relatable and kind of easy to root for character. Having it directly addressed as "No. It's not ok and it's dangerous to do" with no beating around the bush was really kind of a wake up call
This is definitely in the top three seasons for me, Free Churro is the best episode of the series by far. If Wil Arnett doesn’t get an Emmy for that, I’ll be bummed for him, what a performance.
Same here, I’m going through my own substance abuse issues right now and that part really hit it home for me. Goddamn, this show, man...
Seasons 2-3 are hard to top but this was right up there. The middle eps were phenomenal. Also the Matt Lauer dig in Ep 12 was great
Diane getting a divorce haircut was a mood, the Vietnamese stuff definitely underscored the fact that as he now admits Diane should have been portrayed by an Asian voice actress as great as Alison is a listicle of roles for powerful women over 40 that would be better played by Jennifer Lawrence Old Navy said they wanted a fresher face and they went with Sherman Hemsley, that was my Vietnam
Diane was lowkey probably my favorite of the season, really really liked that the season ended on her
It might be a little early but throwing this out there: Favorite and least favorite episode each season? Season 1 Favorite: Zoes and Zeldas Least Favorite:Live Fast, Diane Nguyen Season 2 Favorite: Higher Love Least Favorite: Chickens Season 3 Favorite: That's Too Much, Man Least Favorite: Bojack Kills Season 4 Favorite: Times Arrow Least Favorite: Commence Fracking Season 5 Favorite: INT. SUB Least Favorite: Planned Obsolescence
The hardest I laughed this season was Mr. Chocolate Hazelnut Spread Finished this earlier and I think it was my favorite season. A looooot to digest but that’s my gut reaction
The symbolism at the end of the last episode was really interesting, was it Diane moving on from Bojack?
Finished the season. Great as always. I think my favorite stretch was eps 6-8. I loved all those. The last two episodes also had great moments.
