RuPaul saying "how am I supposed to concentrate on a great orgy when I got gentrification on my mind" may be the greatest thing to happen on this show and just in general
Am I an asshole if I really hated the mother storyline, and the flashback episode towards the end was unbearable for me to watch?
Finally started S4 today and got halfway through. E2 was incredible, holy shit. I think I realized that I enjoy the serious stuff more than I do the comedy on this show though
I never gave this show a chance until this Friday and I'm in love. It's absolutely fucking brilliant. Favorite episodes so far are Downer Ending and the underwater episode
Finished S4 today. Definitely not the best season but still absolutely fantastic. Todd really got nothing to do this season for the most part and I wasn't that invested in Princess Carolyn's story but the rest was just great. I said it yesterday but I enjoy the serious stuff more than the comedy on this show usually and this season had some really great stuff, especially towards the end (like always). Also liked it actually having a happy ending for once, or at least compared to the rest of the show Waiting a whole year for new seasons of this show is always so rough lol
The 2nd episode of S4 was the best yet... And one of the best episodes I've ever seen of anything ever
I just finished this today and holy shit another fantastic season of Bojack. I love the directions they sent the characters in: Bojack trying to be more responsible and the final scene of the season ending on a positive note (he's earned it), Princess Carolyn struggling with depression and drinking during a crisis, Diane and Mr. Peanutbutter's marriage on the rocks ("I don't know if I can keep squinting" was heartbreaking), Todd coming out as asexual, Hollyhoch accepting her body image and owning it, Beatrice's backstory... This season was firing on all cylinders amd pushed characters in very interesting and dark directions, some of which were uncharted for these characters and this show. It felt so fresh and still funny and dark at the same time.
people were finally ready to settle for Kattan popular actor and soundtrack artisan Zach Braff maybe you ran afoul of a trickster god or wood nymph who is now exacting revenge that hipster Chewbacca always getting in my personal biznatch take a licking keep ticking like a lollipop with Tourettes
I didn't really care about Hollyhock or Bojack's mother to be honest. I'm probably an asshole too! I prefer interactions between the core characters (Bojack, Diane, Mr P, Princess Caroline and Todd).
Man I feel like the family stuff is the core of Bojack trying to be better and to me that's the crux of the season. Especially with Hollyhock
I absolutely loved every second of this series. The storyline about his grandparents and his mom was fantastic. Best yet.
Going back to his mother was a great touch, and it is an important part of the advantages that an animated show gives you. BoJack constantly uses his past to justify his current behavior, and we have seen plenty of his Horsin' Around days, so it makes sense to show how a cycle of mental abuse is passed on through generations.
Haven't read all that I've missed yet, but I finished a minute ago and while i still have tears in my eyes from Bojack and Hollyhocks last conversation I just want to say that I love this show with all my heart and it means a lot to me.
I agree with those saying that you come to this show for comedy, you stay for the drama. Todd is too wonderful. I adore that in all the shittiness the characters go through, Todd is always positive, always pure. He balances everyone. PB's pay-off on the Bo for Gojack joke was maybe the biggest laugh of the season for me. This show does those little jokes so well.
I gotta say, I liked how the show subverted some of the "tropes" in this season. Bojack using the coveted fuck, usually reserved for Bojack irreversibly ruining a relationship, towards his mother, but then comforting her in the end. Most notably, though, for once Bojack had the somewhat happy ending. Yeah, episode 11 was still the traditional downer episode, but even that was different just because it wasn't about Bojack for once. It was about his mother. I wouldn't say this was as good as season 3 or 2, but it was still really good. Episodes 2, 6, and 11 were series highlights.
Was just in the Szechuan sauce news thread and seeing a ton of praise for this show. Ive watched the first season before and nothing about it really hooked me in any way. Does it get a lot better in later seasons or is it just not for me?
