it gets better,Twitter found out that the reviewer is a nepotism baby and is only at the Times because her dad works there
ok Conner O'Malley coming in at the end I liked this but I thought that some of the idk like internet speak language (? not sure what else to call it) that burst through the dialogue in the middle felt a little over the top in a way that didn't quite match the earlier part of the movie. it got a little less funny/sharp and a little more shallow I think as that went along (I'm thinking mostly of a long scene in the middle)
Did not realize Lee Pace was Greg, wow. He and Rachel Sennott were hilarious in this. So was Pete Davidson for the most part.
Thought this was good while I was watching it and great by the end. Extremely tense and funny, did not see the reveal coming, felt it was effective both as a satire and a fun horror whodunit. Lighting was awesome. Seeing Connor O'Malley show up broke my brain
I enjoyed this but I agree about this scene. It was overly long and felt forced. Overall a fun movie and the reveal at the end was great.
The movie's dialogue felt like it was marketed to be entirely like that scene, which I'm glad it wasn't. You have to keep internet speak to small chunks or it'll age your movie horribly. But I also agree it didn't match with what came before and after it.
Welp. Looks like that may be my Thursday. Really shouldn't spend the $20 right now but I loved this so much.
Echoing the complaints over that one scene, but overall this was much better than I expected. I didn’t love it, but it was an enjoyable watch with a fantastic cast, and the reveal was great.
That scene seems to be a love it or hate it thing, and I, for one, love it Also Instinct was a difficult watch
I loved this. Very fun and dumb, but in a smart way. The ending was perfect and made sense given the tone of the movie. Most fun I’ve had with a “horror” movie since Ready or Not.
man I didn't really enjoy this at all. great idea for the reveal and the actors killed it, but I was kinda exhausted by the halfway point
I think I woulda liked this more if it had leaned fully into the satire or the horror, as is its in this weird halfway point that's like it's just fighting with itself like the cast all killed it, but the characters were absolutely reprehensible and awful (except maybe Bee, but she was unfortunately kind of a blank slate most of the time). if it's a full-on comedy that's fine, but the film leans super hard on their dynamics in a way that forces you to think about them weirdly often, and it turns into a bummer. like that scene of David verbally abusing Emma in front of everyone, that's not funny at all and goes on insanely long, and then it's just dropped and never brought up again? stuff like that took me out of it
I think that's the best part of the movie, it morphs and changes into a lot of different things throughout. It would have been less distinct and unique if it just stuck to one lane imo.
