I think we’re still somehow underrating him as an artist. Listen to the utter freedom he has on this song.
Don't know why but I randomly got an urge to listen to Sara this week, which led to me listening to Desire, which I now have a completely new appreciate for. Everything really clicked into place for me. I think Hurricane and Joey are such big stories and long songs that they distracted me a bit from how incredible the rest of the album is.
I was so genuinely moved watching one of the great geniuses of the age feel so self-conscious about his musicianship, only for two other utter giants to teach him how to sound like him and cheer him on.
It's a kinda fluffy doc overall, but there's something about seeing how all these mythologized heroes act alongside and in the presence of other legends that's essential viewing.
That’s fine I love fluffy music docs haha. Just finally watched the Petty Wildflowers doc recently which I would characterize as pretty fluffy and enjoyed it immensely
Sometimes the subject is so cool that even with a fluffy, pro forma doc, you’re going to be thrilled just by the details about it
Linguist Determines Bob Dylan Has Been Unintelligibly Wailing “Please Just Let Me Die” Onstage for Past Two Decades (thehardtimes.net)
I'm sure this will lead to me feeling foolish, but I've had what I think is a Dylan lyric playing in my head for a couple of hours now, but I can't place it, even with Googling. The lyric I'm hearing is "While you were shouting, I saw you coming out.", but I can't get any hits for that, so either I'm very likely getting the lyric wrong, or its not Dylan. Or both! I can hear it clear as day in my head, but can't actually place it. Anybody want to put me out of my misery?
When I read it, it played in my head to melody of "but while we were talking, I saw you nodding out" in the second verse of "London Calling," so maybe it's that?
No, I was listening to London Calling earlier and that’s what made me think of the Dylan line (that I’m probably getting wrong) ha. Maybe I’ve heard a cover of London Calling by a Dylan esque singer, but I’m sure I’m thinking of something else ha. Maybe it is London Calling though, and my brains just tying itself up in knots haha.
