blood on the tracks: obviously great but it really helps to have accumulated a lot of romantic wreckage in your past if you want the complete devastation

    I always tell people this:

There's a few ways you can go about this.

    1. Start at the beginning. (Maybe skipping the self titled as it is mostly covers. Although "Man of Constant Sorrow", "House Of The Rising Sun", and "Song To Woody" are all brilliant). Or with "Freewheelin'" which is still my favorite Dylan album. He was 21 when he wrote it and it's truly fascinating how a young mind could come up with those songs. The next two albums are more politically charged but contain some of his best (and most hilarious) songs. From then on he goes electric. The run from "Bringing It All Back Home" to "Blonde On Blonde" is the best in the history of music.

    2. Start with those 3 albums, then work your way backwards.

    or

    3. Start with "Blood On The Tracks". One of the most, if not THE most accessible record in his discography. IMO the greatest breakup album ever written.

  5. I certainly agree but to be fair I had also wrecked a lot of shit by my mid 20s

  6. "Idiot Wind" is the man's best song and I will not apologize for this take

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

I defs think Freewheelin' is the place to start but I don't know anything bout anything

probably the best song on Blood on the Tracks, but "If You See Her, Say Hello" is my favourite and always will be

Best Dylan song is “Boots of Spanish Leather”

But “It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue” is damn close

"Not Dark Yet" is my favorite Dylan song. Blood on the Tracks is probably my favorite album of his, though.

actually one of the few bobby songs that i feel like is kinda overrated.

even just among basement tapes songs, i feel like that’s the only bob-singing track i hear people discuss. Acapulco too i guess.

"nothing was delivered" is my fav basement tapes song. no way is "you ain't goin' nowhere" overrated though

I really just love how easily digestible and simple it is. You don't get that a lot with Dylan. This recording in particular gives me a "yo check out this song I just wrote!" vibe.

i love the early recording of "you ain't going nowhere" on the basement tapes box where all of the lyrics are improvised. it's hilarious

  24. Byrds version feat. Gram is the definitive version tho
