Here’s the first casting news, production on the pilot is expected to begin in early 2019.

I didn't realize this is only a pilot order so far but I'd be surprised if it didn't go to series.

George posted on facebook about it. Looks like it's called The Long Night.

 

So, is she a Targaryen or a Lannister?

 

The Andals weren’t around for the Long Night, so those bloodlines wouldn’t even be around yet.

Also, that reminds me...why did the Dothraki call Jorah ‘the andal’ when he is from blood of the first men? Is it just what they called all the people from Westeros?

 

This will be the main cast of the series in addition to Naomi Watts. Also, SJ Clarkson will direct the pilot.

 

Didn't see this before but yes, the Dothraki call everyone from Westeros "Andals."

 

'Game of Thrones' prequel starts filming (and in a familiar location)

 

Apparently this will be titled "Blood Moon". I'll update the thread title.

Seems like a weird name but okay

 

Yeah I'll be interested to see what HBO says whenever they officially announce it.

 

I can't not think of the Magic the Gathering card with the same name now

 

What was wrong with The Long Night

 

It was never an official name, GRRM just decided it to call it that.

 

I’m aware, but what was wrong with it was my question

 

I don't know but apparently HBO never wanted it to be titled that because GRRM said he wasn't supposed to refer to the series as "The Long Night" in a blog post.

 

I can get down with that.

 

although it looks like maybe that is just the working title for the production.

 

Yeah they haven’t even ordered it to series yet so I’m sure it could potentially change at some point.
