Samesies, this came out of nowhere for me... until I realized they actually quietly announced the previous singer's departure last year haha.
On my second listen and I can't stop grinning through Saturday City with its quintessential Blood Command groove and melodies. Despite the lenghty gaps and line-up changes, they never miss a beat. The new singer is killing it as well. edit: Oh wait Saturday City was rerecorded? I see it first came out in 2020, before the previous singer left.
better than cult drugs, basically as good as funeral beach which means it’s masterpiece level to me lol
nikki may have the most personality of any of their vocalists, so dope that she joined up, she sounds like such a badass
The new album is such a ripper and this article on Nikki is pretty interesting: Songs Of Praise: Blood Command’s Nikki Brumen on finding… | Kerrang! (it also mentions that they recorded the *entire album* with Karina before she left and then re-recorded it with Nikki, and as much I love the album as it is I would also love to hear that version!)
It would make sense considering they started teasing the album back in 2020, with the singles artworks remaining very close to the album one. I would love to hear it too.
They're already back with a new album, World Domination, out in September and have put out two singles so far.
It was a jarring style change for me coming fresh off listening to their first two albums but I'm starting to warm up to it. Can they at least keep a vocalist this time?
Kudos to them for doing something a little different but man I just don't give a shit about this. To follow up what was my AOTY last year with one that won't even get an honourable mention this year is so profoundly disappointing.
Ex-singer Karina has just released an album with her band The Franklins and I get Blood Command vibes from the heavier tracks.
I skipped World Domination due to the posts on here....weird album. It's actually not terrible, it's just weird how for so many tracks they're doing straight up hardcore, which has never been their strong suit. The riffing and songwriting throughout feel a bit generic at times, making the experimental songs are actually the more promising ones - I could see them incorporating new elements in a better developed way next time.
