To me, nothing tops the slower songs from AWITC. "Kreuzberg," "I Still Remember," "Sunday," and "SRXT" is a totally perfect stretch of songs.
I've never given AWITC many proper listens and I know the people that like it LOVE IT. It's time to change that.
I skipped out on the Dublin show in October because I decided to see Idles instead (plus the venue Bloc Party were playing at had put on that absolute shithead Jordan Peterson a couple of months previously and I didn't want to give money to venues who promote that utter fuckbag), but I see they're playing 3 more Silent Alarm shows in Germany in June...
It’s been so great to see the sentiment for AWITC shift over time, that album got trashed way too hard when it came out. People weren’t ready.
AWITC was my go to Album to listen to during tennis matches in HS. Something about the fresh air combined with the music that would help calm my nerves, but pump me up before going on court at the same time.
I don't think I followed anything about it online when it came out, but I loved it. Intimacy was where they lost me
Intimacy I absolutely loved I remember the whole surprise announcement three days previously and I just LOST my SHIT, such a fun time to be a fan of that band
I was just talking yesterday with my mate about these guys. Both agreed A Weekend In The City is their best work - and in my top 5 fave records ever. Intimacy had some good tracks but never got into anything released after that record.
Release day bump for the debut single by NOVACUB, featuring Louise on vox, Russell on guitar, Iona Thomas on bass and Tony Alda on drums. Big fan of this.
Someone asked Louise on IG if Bloc Party is finished and she said as far as she knows they're still going. That's not immediately super promising. Still hoping to hear her on an album
