I have never thought bloc party had good lyrics so I couldn't care less

 

I thought the lyrics on Weekend were really good. Then again I was in high school when it came out

Just listened to this the other night. Musically I love it. The vocals, I kinda wish Kele was doing more singing and less talking. I'm sure this will grow on me though

 

Musically I love this. Just about everything Kele is doing sucks. Lyrics are bad. His vocal melodies are perplexing on some songs.

I enjoy the hell out of this. It feels all-encompassing of their entire discography. Lots of deep pocket drums, repetitive angular guitar parts, electronics galore.

 

yeah it takes a little bit of everything they've done and I love how tasteful it is about it

was at the tour kickoff last night! like they've never been away. played most of the new record, the hits and an Intimacy deep cut, a song I NEVER expected to hear. obvious spoilers for this leg but here's the setlist:

 

2 Encores? How's that even work with the crowd?

 

oh it worked fine last night, crowd was very into it!

 

Pretty rad set. Not a single thing from four or hymns is funny.

they played Kettling at festival/warmup shows but Hymns hasn't gotten any love from them at all so far since they resumed shows. they're obv really proud of the new album but I wonder if they mix things up much on this leg.

e: they did in Lille - Kettling and Day Four from Four & Only He Can Heal Me from Hymns. I think it's gonna be one of those tours!

 

That is a killer setlist. I bet these new songs sound killer live.

I am obsessed with Alpha Games. Every time I listen I have a new favorite song or moment, which always happens with albums that end up becoming personal favorites.

 

I really enjoy this album.

 

Still loving this album. What a step up from Hymns.

 

I've been watching live 2022 videos all morning. Absolutely in love with the giant venus flytrap prop in the background.

 

this had pretty minimal impact on me but I'm thankful it came out and introduced me to Novacub lmao

 

A deluxe edition with 3 new songs just came out. I don't remember it being announced so this is a pleasant surprise. Louise is going off on Acting Out, which is an instant highlight.

 

alternatively on YouTube because they're good like that (deluxe edition isn't on YouTube Music for whatever reason)

 

All 3 bonus tracks are better than at least 3 album tracks imo. I’d swap them for girls are fighting, sex magik, rough justice.

 

yeah these b-sides are pretty good but something about them still feels like the band on autopilot a bit

definitely still wild that they put a song as bad as "The Girls Are Fighting" on the tracklist instead of one of these

 

Been listening to NOVACUB a ton recently. So many gems.
