Bloc Party – “The Girls are Fighting” Video

Imagine my surprise hearing this after being a huge fan of silent alarm and not listening to a single note they've played since.

Not all good.

 

Yeah... BP has been one of my favorite bands forever, but this song is a bit of a mess...

It's funny how NOVACUB is doing what we all hoped BP would. It's that weird tug of war between the fans wanting the genuine nature of a bands "older stuff" (while understanding that bands don't owe us shit), and the artist wanting to grow and explore new stuff. Some bands find a great middle-ground of doing something a bit new while still keeping what made them special in the first place, I guess it all comes down to the personality of the artist and what keeps them creatively fulfilled.

 

I really dig this response, thank you, and in no small part due to you exposing me to NOVACUB. :D

 

Of course, thank you! NOVACUB is just a straight up fun band, and it's Russell and Louis from Bloc Party basically doing a version of Bloc Party! What could be better?

 

If I thought Traps was a step in the right direction, I'm immediately brought back down to earth with this one.

 

Yes! Traps was amazing and throwback. This is not.

 

They've been pretty mediocre for quite some time. Still great live.
