didnt mean for my above post to come across as condescending as it did sorry Dylan i agree HoTS is in a smaller pool but its still a pretty popular game all in all. it probably has more players than D3
everyone is bias towards their moba of choice except me because I hate smite and curse them for making me spend $100+
oh god ive spent so much money on League jesus christ Smite has that really cool package where you can buy it and you get ALL the gods and every god that comes out after that. thats a really neat bargain for someone like me that really really likes having all the characters available to me just in case.
HOTS literally just turned 2 years old! It hasn't been around as long. And for all the reasons I've mentioned, it's almost nothing like League or DOTA besides the generic laning/towers/minions/different classes of characters, so it's not that fair to make those comparisons anyway. I'm not biased towards it, I've just enjoyed it a lot more and it has a lot more variety, and it doesn't take anywhere near as long to complete matches. And I haven't experienced anywhere near as much toxicity.
My cousin was a diehard LoL player and completely abandoned it when HotS came out. I've also seen diehard LoL and Dota 2 players trash HotS. So I guess it can go both ways. I personally have never put enough time into a MOBA to be that great at them, so I don't really have an opinion, just offering some ultimately useless anecdotal evidence.
My biggest issue with LoL, aside from the awful community, is that 90% of the champions are kinda useless at any given time. It's like Riot picks about 10-15 champs every patch they want to do well and the rest just rot until their time to shine. At least, that was my impression during my 2 year long tenure. I mean sure you CAN make a champion work but you're better off just playing whoever the golden champs are at that time. LoL does have really cool lore though, I like the idea of summoner controlling these champions to settle conflicts and there's even cool little details like lesser summoners who aren't strong enough to control a champion are the ones controlling the minions, or the idea that all the champions aren't allowed to fight outside of Summoners Rift so they indulge in other activities like drinking contests. Plus the world itself and how there's an actual geographical map of the world and all sorts of history. It's just really neat
I'm going to bring Smite in here always because it's the only moba I play and it's having those kind of problems recently the meta has gotten super snowballey and only a certain pool of gods were picked smite pros have started to take to the forums/Reddit to say "hey we have some ideas for balance and less snowball" while the smite management is like yeah we take it to consideration but we had the final say so it's back and forth complaint
It's really hard to balance character pools, especially when you have 50+ characters. With how many people play those games and their being a big comp scene ends up with very explicit metas and tier lists. You'll have FotM for sure but of the problems with league I was never too bothered by that, my champ selection was always pretty varied tho yes not top tier. League community is bad tho, CS still the worst tho maaaan
I'm kinda lucky because I tend to play a variety of gods in Smite one week I'll play assassins next hunter and the following warriors dang now I just want to play some mobas even HOTS
I could never get the hang of ADC in LoL. I mostly played support and tank, with the occasional AP. I could never get the hang of aggro in HS. I mostly played control and combo decks, with the occasional mid-range. I can't seem to get the hang of DPS in OW. I mostly play support and tank, with the occasional defense. I guess some things carry over no matter what genre the game is.
Looks like new WoW raid, Tomb Of Sargeras, is coming sooner than expected, or at least sooner than I expected. Possibly next week or the week after. Nightholds been great, it's easily my favorite raid of the xpac so far and one of my all time favorites, but I'm ready for a change of scenery. Lore-wise I'm really excited to finally fight Kil'Jaedan and start knocking down the doors of the Burning Legion. I'm a bit burnt out on fighting demons at this point but I can tolerate it since aside from the Lich King/Scourge the Burning Legion are probably the most interesting "fodder" enemies we fight. Being able to get new gear and item levels will be nice since my shaman is basically capped. Maybe they'll tie in a new HoTS hero with the release. We could use a BL demon in the roster, possibly Archimonde or something. A demon support would be a cool twist.
me playing hots is basically me having no clue what I'm doing so I'm just pressing buttons like crazy
