i mean yeah no shit thats generally the consensus, i was more referring to them just being very hostile towards new players. the forums are pretty aggressive in that regard as well. just an observation
I know for a little bit there was a war going on about the overwatch sub because the pros wanted it all esports/serious highlights while casuals wanted memes. oh yeah overwatch sub for a long time was super hostile towards console players just because pc master race.
ughhhh yeah thats right i forgot about that. very annoying. i mean yeah console OW is slower but i dont think that makes those players any less skilled than others. but yeah thats a discussion for another day i suppose lol. guess ill just keep playing quick matches and practice AI for HS since i really do enjoy the cardgame mechanics even if sometimes it just boils down to "i really really hope x card is drawn on my next turn"
play 4 games of HOTS this week and you get a loot box, and the 2 year anniversary portrait/spray/banner. The OST has been released:
ive come to realize that possibly my favorite part of playing Overwatch, HoTS, and Hearthtone is opening loot-boxes/card packs. idk just the animations and sounds make it so fun haha. reeeeeeally digging into Hearthstone now. im having fun and im trying to keep track of what i see a lot of as far as classes and cards. im rolling with a hunter deck and thats been serving me quite well.
so Officer D.va and Oni Genji are being added to normal lootboxes, which is fair Blizz said they were going to do that soon, but holy shit the OW community is in uproar. i hadnt realized how many of them HATE that game. idk i feel like HoTS is the best moba out there and im shocked so many people from the OW community think its trash :/
We got the 3 archangels now we just need the demons from the Diablo universe and we'll be set I was thinking about this on my drive home last night, I wonder who else they could scrounge up from the Diablo and Starcraft universes. I guess some of the older Diablo classes plus the demon lords could work. Starcraft still has a few units that haven't been translated to heroes yet (Firebats, Emil, couple other Protoss and Zerg characters) but even then they'll start to be scraping the bottom the barrel. I'm shocked we're not getting a WoW character next
I really don't like HotS, it just feels clunky to me. Granted the only other Moba I have significant playing time is with League.. DOTA 2 had a similar clunk feel.
Idk for me HoTS feels so smooth and streamlined it's got that Blizzard polish to it. Granted it's not quite as complex as DOTA2 or LoL but it's still got depth and cool animations and such. The biggest draw to HoTS for me is shorter games. I can't stand hour long League games just to lose because of one bad mistake. But obv to each their own, some fans of both games will flat out just shit on the other game for no reason. There's room for both. It's like PoE vs D3 or Magic vs HS or Civ vs SC or Riff/GW2 vs WoW. I'll see people rabidly defend one and insult the other and it's just dumb. Granted I prefer Blizzard games to the other competitors but I'm also more casual. The only game i feel like no one could defend in its current state is TF2 in comparison to OW. Valve have ruined that game :( Idk I know that's a weird aside but it's just something I've noticed lately especially playing a lot of PoE. Every other post on their forums is "wow this game rules and D3 is shit!!!!"
Well Blizzard kind of caused that with their OW x HotS event, knew plenty of people purely playing HotS for those OW skins. Is there a rivalry between Civ and SC? Because that makes no sense at all lol.
I guess so yeah, a lot of the OW community haaaaaates HoTS now lol. It's a shame. I've heard people compare them and I'm not sure why they're totally separate games. I feel like a more accurate comparison would be like Warhammer
I like HOTS because - multiple maps with unique objectives, so you're not doing the same exact thing every time - talents instead of items - mounts - average game time of 20 minutes as opposed to games like LOL which are 30 or more - shared xp, so no last hitting and everyone on the team is at the same level - personally i think they have the best heroes, and they have great dialogue - fantastic music - with the relaunch of HOTS 2.0, it's so much easier to get tons of skins and other customizations (mounts, sprays, voice lines, emojis, announcer packs) - you get rewards for leveling up your heroes - daily quests are reasonable - really colorful and a great art style - you really feel like you're playing as a team and not by yourself because of the shared XP - way less toxicity than games like LOL
fuckin true. its a shame i heard someone say that HoTS was a "niche, low pop MOBA" and im like but HoTS is nearing (or it may have surpassed) 1 million players last i checked. now a lot of those could be old accounts that arent played anymore but the fact that que times are so low leads me to believe theres PLENTY of people playing it.
1 million is pretty low pop in comparison. DOTA was over 12 million last month and I'm sure LOL is at least double that.
Yeah League and DOTA are fucking huge, so when compared to those it is low-pop... Granted playerbase doesn't correlate to quality necessarily. I don't hate HotS I like a lot of the concepts behind it, just never gelled with me (granted that could be because of MOBA burnout).
yeah but those games are trash so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ i mean honestly its probably MORE than 1 million but Blizz hasnt released any actual numbers yet. Just going off que times, the different regions that play, how many views the game gets on twitch, little things like that id assume its at the very least a healthy population. but ultimately it doesnt matter its just weird hearing people say things like "only 10,000 people play that game anyways" or something. 1 mil isnt low pop at all either way.
