I'm not very familiar with Matt's voice, so can someone please tell me what does he sing? Is it him doing the "whoa oh"?

 

He's on the 2nd verse from what I'm playing through my over ears. While very similar, he sings in what I would say is a "flatter" tone then Mark.

 

think he mixes in with Mark on the chorus and he's got the second verse and Delongeesque yodels

 

So I didn't want to give my fleshed out thoughts on this until I had listened to it at least a dozen times (which I have no shame in saying I've already done), so here goes:

The opening riff immediately gave me flashbacks to Adam's Song in a way, just the general vibe. I'm guessing that's where that comparison from that one radio DJ came from. Worried me a little bit, made me think it was going to be one of those more dreary, moody, slower paced +44 type of songs. There's definitely a +44 vibe in the verses, but the song as a whole, not the case.

The chorus is huge. I'm so fucking excited this band finally has that producer again to give their sound that oomph that as severely lacking on the last two. This feels inspired. It feels alive. Everything from the vocals to the punch in the chorus feels much, much bigger than anything we've got in recent memory. It even feels bigger than Untitled, sonically speaking.

Skiba's voice fit right in. I almost didn't catch that it was him at first, he's far closer sounding to Mark than Tom ever was, but I dig it. He sounded great there, and I hope we get more of it.

The bridge is my favorite part of the song. I love it. The vocal melody is tight as hell, almost caught me off guard since those types of verses tend to be a rarity with this band.

Only gripe is the intro has all that build up and then kind of leaves you hanging. Makes me feel like there should have been another chorus there, the way the outro was structured. Not complaining, just something I have to teach myself on subsequent playthroughs.

Closing thoughts: this is what I wanted. I hope we get some faster songs on the album and even more of a throwback vibe in places, but overall, I like this a lot and couldn't be happier right now.

blink-182 is back. 2016. Get ready.

 

All these radio stations that have heard a bunch of new songs sorta makes sense if they play to release the album this week. Why would they share a bunch of songs if they album was months from release?

 

I hope they don't cancel their KROQ appearance tomorrow because of this, or change their release plans. We were in for something great tomorrow, and even though the song absolutely rules, I kind of wish it went their way and we waited a few hours to get the whole package the way it was supposed to.

Remember when David accidentally leaked the info about Blink reuniting and recording a new album back in the day? I was watching all of that shit unfold live and it was BANANAS! I was at my ex-girlfriend's dorm when it was all happening so I was on her laptop, flipping the fuck out! And she was like, "It's like you love them more than me!" and I said, "Well, uhhh.... yeah..." hahaha. Good times.
