The Paul Blart shape they do for their merch always cracks me up too... Could arrive as the comfiest best fitting shirt in the world, and I'd never know because this looks so unappealing. haha!
I just woke up from a dream where I went to the first date of Blink’s next tour and +44 secretly opened. They played their full album out of order, plus a reprise of WYHSB, a Cure cover, an Unwritten Law cover, a Ramones cover, and closed out with 2 Swingin’ Utters covers (hahaha.) They opened with “Make You Smile” and Carol was there singing on a bunch of songs. After their set, I got on my phone and saw that Taylor Swift just dropped a surprise 18-track album and there was a song featuring Blink. And I was so excited! But then I woke up. Booooo!
Listening to some Box Car Racer today. Man I really wish they could have gotten that Birtish guy to swallow his food or at least stop chewing when he's saying his lines on cat like thief.
Really wish Mark/blink was more motivated to create cool releases similar to their counterparts in the scene. The treatments we've seen from Green Day for Dookie and American Idiot would be insanely cool for any and all of blink's albums. Would absolutely spend insane amounts of money on an Untitled 3LP boxset with demos, live tracks, etc. It's more than deserved at this point. And it will likely bring up the "I never listen to demos" discussion but it'd just be cool to have. I really wonder why they haven't ever tried to do it unless it's like a label/master issue. I know the TOYPAJ bonus tracks are an issue for them which I'm sure steers them away from making any effort.
Not with Hoppus at the helm. We need to take him down. He's actually the only one who has all of the band's demos so unless he ever has a change of heart, it's a hard no :(
A remaster would be dope. I remember hearing a huge difference in the Guitar Hero/Rock Back version of Dammit. Can't remember the exact game it was, but Dammit was definitely remastered.
Sometimes I think about the alleged unheard demo from Dude Ranch that apparently has dueling Mark/Tom vocals. We can dream...
Monsters of California is just being released in the UK now? Interesting. But also I've still not seen it. Wonder if it is on any streaming services in the US now.
Since the band was signed to Universal/subsidiary from 1999-2003, the masters for EOTS, TOYPAJ, and Untitled were all lost in the Universal Music warehouse fire back in 2008. I'm not sure this would mean demos were affected too, or what they can even pull from the archives anymore. The only reason we got the MCR remaster was Howard Benson had copies of everything he ever produced, which isn't the norm. Not saying I want a remaster of the album, but stating I'm not sure what they could really put out there that we don't have already if they don't have access to the files anymore or what's allowed under previous contracts. Fully agreed though: I'd pay a stupid amount of money for a 3LP of my all-time favorite album with live tracks/b-sides/demos, etc...
Regarding Anniversary albums, I would much rather have professional live concerts from those eras than demos. I would kill to have one from the TOYPAJ or Pop Disaster Tour.
